The people that didn't pick corned beef have obviously never had it. It's also delicious hot on a rueban

Corned beef is awesome on reubens... not really something I want on a cold cut sandwich though as it would overpower pretty much any other meat you put on the sandwich.

Didn't know that Braunschweiger is a liverwurst in the States. How did that happen?

I don't think of it as a cold cut. I love it, but cooked (better than bacon). Or served thinly sliced with cheese and olives.

Not a sandwich meat.

There is some ambiguity as to what categorizes a "cold cut"

some people presume cold cuts to be sandwich meat, some dont limit themselves in that fashion.

were talking sliced meats acquired from a delicatessen or specialty meats counter or am i being too broad?

I deem a cold cut as any type of charcuterie.

Ok, then it does classify in this sense. But my Market District has some of the things you mentioned at the regular deli counter. Not the speciality meats counter. Such as their in store roasted turkey breast, roast beef, etc...

The correct answer is jamon Iberico de bellota. (And at over $100/lb, it better be.) All others are #2 or lower.

Mortadella and testa are next up on my list, followed by prosciutto di San Daniele, Alan Benton‘s bacon (which, since it is cured, I classify as a ‘cold cut'), and morcilla (Spanish blood sausage).

But since each of those choices were absent, I went with ‘ham'.

Based on votes, folks in this thread need to live a little. I would eat corned beef for every meal if I could. The only time I would make an exception is if there was a really good pastrami around.

For an everyday sandwich, I go with turkey because it's the most heart healthy, etc. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE corned beef and most of the others.
