Home Stereo System

Postby Defence21 on Thu Jan 09, 2014 12:26 pm

I have a somewhat older (relatively speaking, of course) Panasonic Blu-Ray 7.1 surround sound system at home. My daughter recently grabbed the center speaker and dropped it, rendering it useless. When I pick it up, I can hear parts moving around inside, and it's just not working. Anyway, of course, without this speaker, our sound is way off and pretty unpleasant. I saw a speaker that appears to be at the very least visually the same as the one I have, but I don't have my home theater product number to be able to confirm.

Generally speaking, shouldn't any Panasonic center speaker work with all units? Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to make the eBay purchase before the one I am looking at is gone.

what's the connection? is it just speaker wire or is it a different jack of some kind?

Just speaker wire that splits to two connections.

Even if it is, you could cut and splice a propietary jack that came with your speaker set onto any speaker wire. I know Samsung has goofy connectors on their HTIB sets, I can't recall if Panasonic does or not (I feel like they don't).

You would want to know the ohm resistence level of your new speaker. The same or higher should be ok. A much lower ohm level (say your old speaker is 8 and your new one is 4) could cause a problem on the receiver unit.
