Burrito Box debuts

Postby BigMcK on Thu Jan 09, 2014 1:40 pm

The world's first burrito vending machine has debuted at a gas station in Los Angeles, and people love it.

The "Burrito Box" offers five different burritos, all for $3, that you can select from a touch-screen menu. The varieties include Chorizo Sausage, Roasted Potato, Uncured Bacon, Free-Range Chicken and Shredded Beef.

The units fall under food preparation laws and are subject to heath inspections and cleanliness ratings.

It's embarrassing that we are so far behind in the vending-machine wars. Japan has vending machines that sell foodstuffs like steaming bowls of noodles (ramen, soba, etc.), fresh-baked pizza, fresh fruit, French fries, hamburgers, fried chicken, and of course sushi. A burrito machine wouldn't be anything special.

The last time I was in the Slovak club with my grandfather they still had the old school cigarette vending machines. You can't even smoke in bars here in NC anymore so I have no idea how much of a presence they have back in PA or elsewhere.

Whats the difference between getting burritos from a vending machine or taking 3-4 minutes to walk into a 7-11 or taco bell?

I've only ever seen one beer vending machine. It was at an on-base motel, where my brother graduated from boot camp.
But that was a long time ago.

You'd have to be out walking to stumble upon the vending machine :pop:
