XXII Olympic Winter Games

Жаркие. Зимние. Твои.

T-minus not quite two weeks before the start of the Games. An Olympiad that has already met with a fair degree of controversy, and which will probably become more contentious as time goes on.

Oh, and check out the Mexican downhill ski team uniforms.

Does the Olympics include the snowboarding, where everyone goes down the slope at the same time? That's pretty cool.

Either way, I watch skiing, biathlon, ski jumping, luge, hockey (duh) and especially bobsled.

Here's to all athletes returning home in one piece and Geno and Nealer marrying at center ice.

I have a bad feeling about these olympics. I just hope everything goes ok.

I mentioned before I took a 3 week curling course with the Pittsburgh Curling Club and learned how to play and the actual rules and what not...that was going on 3 years ago and all the information has escaped me, so I'm back to square 1

I don't either, and that's what makes the sauce so awesome. It's just highly randomized yelling on ice, as far as I'm concerned.

I'd be lying if I said I felt differently. There's a lot of people who want to see Russia fail on a such a global level with all the world's attention on them. Its only about 300 miles from Chechnya. That's not exactly a significant hurdle for one of the most volatile regions in the world. I'm really worried about the spectators at the events, especially the opening ceremonies.

There's no doubt Russia is trying to shove the Olympics down Chechnya's craw a little bit. Has anyone read the story about the "Black Widow" terrorist(s) that may already be in Sochi, inside the security barrier? I mean, odds are, nothing will happen, but it's troubling.

I could also go on about the dozens of migrant workers that have died so that Earth's Greatest Spectacle can take place, but meh.

It appears dodint has a one arcane sport limit.

I was in London during the 2003 rugby World Cup (or whatever it was) and went into a pub one day when the All Blacks were playing. Everyone was so excited to have a clueless, inquisitive Yank amongst them. When I asked a question, I think every single patron in that pub volunteered answers to me....... none of them said the same thing, of course. Oh, Britania.....

Curling is super simple. Maybe you people just *think* you don't understand it, because there really isn't much to understand.

Agreed. Also, I think if you learn the terms of the game, people might feel better about understanding it.

I love The Olympics and the Winter Games are my favorite. There are very few events I don't like to watch. Curling is near the top of the list of events I enjoy.
