Colin Farrell is one of my favorite actors. This is good news for me. I'm hoping it does for him what it did for McC

I'm not sure Farrell is one of my favorite actors, but I agree that like McConaughey, he seems to have coasted through some crappy roles, but has latent acting chops that could come out in something good.

Kitsch, I'm less sure of. I loved Friday Night Lights and his character there, but I'm not sure about his actual ability. His one role might just be stoic, but inwardly nice and thoughtful, meathead/gearhead guy.

I'm not sure Farrell has the chops to pull off this kind of acting. Hope he's up to it. Kitsch was in an HBO movie recently about the AIDS outbreak. I can't think of the title (and am too lazy to google it even though I could have done so repeatedly in the amount of time it took me to write this) and he was exceptional. I was surprised at how good he was.

Tim Riggins will pull through, no worries on Farrell, that guy is top notch, did you see saving Mr banks?

Kitsch played minor league hockey before he ruined his knee.

I honestly hope he's playing Tim Riggins turned detective on the show.

Do you mean in terms of a career rebirth, or? McC has been on a roll for several years now.

The show has set the bar so high that I'm not sure any actor will fill the shoes, so you really have to forget season 1 and just measure season 2 as as stand alone, but I'm sure people won't.

Apparently, Colin Farrell has confirmed he's in season 2. I wonder if that means Taylor Kitsch is signed on as well, since I thought it was the same report that cited those two a couple months ago.

Watched TD a second time. It wants to be more than it is. Or pretends to be.

Discuss.

I think the direction/atmosphere and performances really made it what it was, more so than the actual plot progression.

There was a whole lot of red herring action too, which I didn't mind, in restrospect.

Kind of why I'm slightly skeptic about this new season, since it won't be the same director. However, that guy was an unknown at the time, so maybe they can catch lightening in a bottle again with whomever they bring in.

Yeah. It was easy to overlook the first time because McConaughey was so good, but Woody was right up there.

It did seem for awhile like they were leading up to something much bigger than what we ultimately got. If you got super caught up in that aspect, I can see where it may have been somewhat of a letdown.

However, as stated earlier, the atmosphere and the performances of Harrelson and Mcconaughey made the show worth watching.

It will be interesting to see how Season 2 goes since it is going to be completely different... no idea what to expect.

I feel the show was more about the relationship between Chole and....whatever his name was than on the crimes. That's something I didn't take notice of until it was over.

i guess I'm still unhappy with the ending and Cole's ... transformation or whatever you want to call it. Still, it's a very good show.

See, I'm still of the opinion there was never really that much of a transformation, that there was that part of him all along, and most of what we received as being his worldview throughout the majority of the show was just a coping mechanism he developed and eventually bought into as a response to what happened to his daughter. I don't think someone who truly exercised what appeared to be his modus operandi their whole lives would even bother getting married (let alone twice) and having a kid.

I think the flashback when he was invited over to Marty's for dinner and he was just completely ****faced because it was the anniversary of his daughter's death is what initially sparked that line of thinking for me.
