My thought too on the episode being "the worst," but I think that's largely due to the fact that we're feeling pressed for time with only 3 episodes left and the fact that it followed up what might be TD's Ozymandias in Ep 5.

I can't believe there are still people theorizing that Hart is involved -- in either a minor or major way. This is how I felt when the episode in BB ended
Spoiler:
in the shootout in the desert. No way Hank could come out alive and the show maintain credibility.
Marty getting one over on Rust in such a big way is just not possible.

Good to see the comments are almost unanimous in laughing at her review.

Just watched. I didn't mind the episode, to me it was the transition to the present day events of the show. Going to be very interesting to see how this all ties up with two episodes left

It sets up the viewer to experience what the last decade has been like. They haven't scooted by any details yet. We're getting it all.

Certainly seems that way reading reviews/thoughts. I guess I should have spoilered that BB stuff. Will edit to do so.

I just finished watching. Obviously not the "best" episode, but it was necessary to transition the plot.

Spoiler:
Marty banging the former teenager hooker seemed especially sleazy, but, hey, it helped to move the plot along.

Rust really knows how to wine and dine a woman.

The church folk being behind the killings is looking more likely.

Think I'm going to put off BB a little now so my brain forgets what I just read.

I can't wait to see how deep this cover up goes. I'm thinking the major in 2002 is not involved, but that creepy gray-haired goon that is always lurking around is definitely involved. I'm excited to hear Marty and Rust's conversatoin

Did anyone catch their boss using the word "fixing?" That's so deep South.

For example, "I'm fixin' to head over to the river for the day."

It appears that Marty is even more dumb, more predictable, and more hypocritical than I thought.

Based on his fumbling around with the phone, he probably doesn't know about deleting photos.

Plus it was 2002. Not like everyone was accustomed to cell phones at that time like they are today.

anyone else get the feeling with just 2 episodes left, we may not be getting so deep into the mythos of the yellow king and the supposed cult? I think we'll certainly get an explanation about them and there will be a bust, but is there enough time to go fully into the cult and see behind the scenes what Rust went into between 2002 and 2012? I think I'm going to be satisfied with the show no matter what at this point, but man do I wish it was a few episodes longer

I thought there were 3 left!!!

I have a feeling that The Yellow King might be the one theme that spans the whole series. While it may not be this case or Rust and Cohle as the detectives, The Yellow King could certainly be the central "bad guy". Kinda like Randall Flagg (or The Crimson King) in King's universe.

I agree. 2 episodes seems like a short span of time to dive into this. This past episode seemed to offer little in the scope of it all.

The less cultish nonsense, the better, imo. I was a little afraid they were going to overdo that aspect.
