In a way, I feel sick, but at the same time, these guys go into those areas knowing they will be targeting and knowing these individuals are extremist.

That's a bit extreme. For all we complain about the MSM, if it weren't for people willing to risk their lives to bring you the news and pictures of what is happening around the world we'd be even more up ****'s creek.
It'd be analogous to somebody saying, "oh, well you signed up for the Army so you get what you get."

People often don't know EXACTLY what they're signing up for when they sign up, and it really isn't through any major fault of their own that they don't understand the full implications of their decisions, but at the end of the day, they did sign up to be a journalist in the middle east, a marine, a guy in the army, etc. It's freedom of choice, but far to often people mistake freedom of choice for freedom of consequence.

This particular situation is awful. I feel terrible for the family and friends of this guy that are going through this tough time. Those people (ZOMG, HE SAID THOSE PEOPLE!!!) are crazy. Absolute nutjobs. I wouldn't even consider going to the middle east for any circumstance.

Yes, everyone who says, "I'm not surprised that happened" is really saying, "he deserved to be beheaded"... Glad you could clear that up.

This is what serving in the military in the 2000s was. A bunch of leadership that had never deployed or saw conflict suddenly thrust in to war post-9/11 leading a bunch of service members that signed up specifically to take part in said wars. It was a straining dynamic that is still rippling through the services.

I don't think the journalists going over there are unaware what they're signing up for. I get the impression that they are adventurist, thrill seeking type. You couple that with "cause" oriented peopel that believe what they're doing. My friend at work's brother is a war reporter and goes to afghanistan all the time. He's been on the local NPR shows a bunch to talk about his experiences and he was involved in an some **** and got injured pretty bad, but still goes back despite his parents protests.

I thinks its more like saying that he was asking for it.

And with that said: I'm not surprised it happened.

No one is saying he deserved it. At least I'm not.

I'm saying that you know the threat is there, you put yourself in that situation by choice, it may happen and don't be angry if it does.

I think it is completely apples and oranges to say if you drive at 2am you "deserve" as you put it to be hit by a drunk driver vs going into a war zone with extremist hunting down people that fit your exact description and you get kidnapped.

I'd like to see the draft reinstituted before any major conflict is undertaken in the future. That would force the political leaders to be a lot more careful when taking us to war.

Do yourself a favor and don't view the video. It's depressing to realize that these sub-humans are going to probably control Iraq for the foreseeable future, but you plant corn you grow corn I suppose.

Pretty stupid move by Isis because I would be surprised if the US doesn't do anything. Specifically, let the terror drones reign down.
