This bit of history confirms what I've always thought: Clapton is a d-bag:

In August, Eric Clapton interrupted his set at the Birmingham Odeon to advise his fans to ‘Vote for Enoch Powell’ and ‘stop Britain becoming a black colony.’ In case his audience didn’t get the full implications of his message, Clapton expanded: ‘Get the foreigners out. Get the wogs out. Get the coons out’ and repeated the phrase ‘Keep Britain White’.

That seems out of character for Eric Clapton, especially for someone who has people of color in his band and practically worships the ground B.B. King walks on.

Yup, Clapton has always been an arsehole. Keep em out while exploiting their culture and get filthy rich. F*** off.

Not sure about that. He knows his stuff and I'd normally be the first to persist on separating life from art, but Clapton always struck me as a filthy hypocrite, which in his case is... problematic.

Meh, never liked his music anyway.

I'm generally not much interested in virtuosity. At least not when treated as an end in itself.

I caught a book reading/talk/Q&A with Legs McNeil tonight.
It was pretty much what I expected: a litany of raunchy stories about Lou Reed, Bowie, Iggy Pop, MC5, etc.
He seemed to be laying in on thick about being a dirtbag, but I guess that's how he makes his money.

Judging from the GDT, I made the right choice.

The 10 Best New Order Songs:

http://stereogum.com/1244332/the-10-best-new-order-songs/list/

The list is bollocks. No Ceremony, no Everything's Gone Green, nothing from Technique. Bleh.

Ceremony should be at the top of this list, but I'm wondering if they're considering it a Joy Division song.

Well, it is a Joy Division song, but the only "official" recording is New Order's, if I'm not mistaken. True Faith I think wouldn't even make my Top 30.

Some of my favorite New Order songs are these:

So did Thurston get busted bangin' a 25 year old or something?
Still trying to figure out why they (and seemingly the band) split up.

No idea. Maybe they just got tired of tuning each other's instruments.
