Probably won't go...but I think that's odd.

I remember the name, know that they had a video running on MTV in the late 80s, and that a friend...ok, more like a mutual friend of a friend always used to play it in his car. Even looking through their wiki page, none of it looks familiar.

I think they are/were big down south. I think they toured with REM a few times in the 90's. I know they opened up at least once for them in Pittsburgh maybe during the Monster tour. They had a copy of small radio hits "Build a Fire", "The Innocent", and "Fly me Courageous". Ever once and awhile someone will request them during DVE's Electric Lunch.

I haven't found much from the Fall that I like. I'll try this one and see if I like it.

I have the Jesus and Mary Chain that I like, and I didn't like Young Marble Giants when I heard it.

Can you list some suggestions in terms of tracks for the Fall, YMG and Big Star (another band that I've head and not liked).

That's The Fall's most "produced" record. From a few years before, and a bit more raw, I would suggest "Perverted By Language":

Don't see any Birthday Party. Try "Junkyard":

I think if you like This Nation's Saving Grace you'll probably like pretty much everything they did in their first decade (79-89). Try Clear Off, C.R.E.E.P, I Feel Voxish, Oh! Brother, Van Plague ...

I'm surprised you don't like YMG. Give Music for Evenings and Choci Loni another try. If you don't like those, maybe it just isn't your cup of tea.

Which JAMC do you like? Imho, both Psychocandy and Darklands are essential. Essential to me anyway.

Oh, and what about Roxy Music?

I'll try again with YMG, it's was just really slow from what i remembered. I like nightingale from Roxy Music...I should get something from them again.

I have psychocandy, also realized i need to get whatever album has that song "some candy talking".

Some Candy Talking was a non-album single. I think it was included on the first CD pressing of Psychocandy.

That's a good representation of their stuff. The first Nick Cave album is his best IMO so you could check that out.

John Cale, Paris 1919
Patti Smith, Horses
The Band, Music From Big Pink
Gang of Four, Entertainment
Serge Gainsbourg, Histoire de Melody Nelson
Go-Betweens, Before Hollywood and Spring Hill Fair
ABC, The Lexicon of Love

I presume I don't need to mention The Smiths and other obvious 80s stuff?

Yeah, should mention talking heads, smiths and costello are covered (off the top of my head) as well as joy division and gang of four.

I don't why, but I dislike the band. them and led zeppelin, i should probably atleast tolerate that stuff...but just can't stand it. I'll definitely get that patti smith and go-betweens album.

I grabbed a bunch of blur albums last week....anyone familiar with their archive? I had the greatest hits CD...but would love insight on any hidden gems.

The sweet spot is from Parklife though 13:

I actually like 13 the best.

They are supposedly recording another one, with the four piece lineup. VERY pleased about that.
