Let's talk about Guided by Voices. Let's talk about golden age hip hop.

I saw Guided By Voices at the Graffiti - to tie the last two posts together. They were sloppy drink, to say the least.

I don't think I'd even heard about them in the 90s. Talk about a late claim to fame.

When I guarded art that the Carnegie, Tina Weymouth and Chris Franz walked through the gallery one day.
It was pretty awesome. :)

Saw a ton of great shows there, including the Smithereens and John Mayall. Loved that place. Many wonderful memories.

Was totally burned out on Rusted Root within a 6 months; they played there every single Monday night 1993-94 at least.

You're the first art-guardian I've ever met on a message board.

Very cool. I'd be star-struck if I saw Tina Weymouth, for sure.

No. A John Varvatos boutique? It's been forever since I've been in that part of Manhattan. I didn't even know that's what CBGB had become.
