It's not so much a matter of "can't" perhaps as shouldn't. However, they play pretty much the entire game, save for delayed penalties and such whereas skaters will play maybe 1/3-1/2 depending on position and the team. Simply a matter of wearing down over the course of the season, I'd say.

Though, imo, a goalie really only plays 1/2 the game (for argument's sake): The puck's in the other team's end for the other half of the game.

Because the flow of the game changes so quickly, a goalie has to stay sharp and concentrated at all times, even when the clock's not running. Extremely exhausting, I would imagine.

That depends on the difference in time and cost between putting their name on the cup and buying a souvenir Cup that already has their name on it at the CEC .
