Wonder if trying to poach an injured Gaborik would be worth it.

First time fantasy player with a bit of a conundrum.... I picked up at extra goalie and the price of dropping a LW in the process, so I've only got 3 LW's (D. Sedin, Neal, Clowe) of the required 2 to start, but I'm wondering if shouldn't drop one of my D-men (Boyle, Gonchar, Enstrom, Liles, Kubina) since you only need four, and since forwards put up more points anyways.

Even with the slow start, Gonch is valuable because of his minutes, and I still think he'll pull it together. I'm thinking of maybe dropping Liles or Kubina (probably Kubes) to pick up either Comeau, Mouslon, or Benn, who are all available in free agency, for that extra LW spot.

Thoughts/Advice?

I would drop Kubina for Moulson personally. And I agree with shedding your extra Dman, especially if you can add a quality LW like that.

Trade advice:

We have a 10 team (all custom) league at work here and my draft (for some unknown reason) really sucked this year. I am at the bottom of the standings.

My current team:
H Sedin, Lecavalier, Toews, Gaborik, Selanne, Morrow (recent add)
Pronger, Kaberle, Babchuk, Wisnewski (recent add)
Luongo, Kipper

League only counts points earned 1 for g, 1 for a, +1 for PPG (plus extra for Shorties and HT's) and PIMS over 5 per week. Dmen get and extra point for goals (PP goal worth 3pts.). Goalies 2 for a win, 5 for a SO.
We start 3F, 2D and 1G for the week.

Proposed trade:
Luongo, Pronger, Gaborik
For
Lundqvist, Sharp, Carter

My reasoning:
Luongo=Lundqvist (wash), Gaborik/Carter(wash), Pronger/Sharp = me giving top defemseman for more immediate offense (Pronger has no points currently, Sharp is somewhat on fire). Trade partner already has Lidstrom, Phanuef, Byfuglien (as D) and Markov on IR.

Not sure I want to do this, but no one is performing on my team right now except Selanne and I haven't started him!

They may appear like a wash now, but I'd take Luongo over Lundqvist over the season in a heartbeat. I'm a longtime Lundqvist owner in a keeper league and he is frustrating, or rather, the Rangers are frustrating. The Rangers looked shaky coming into the season, whereas the Nucks were looked at as a Cup contender/favorite. Both have started a bit slow, but with the Rangers racking up injuries to make a struggling offense even more inept, I'd hang onto Luongo. Lundqvist may struggle to get to 35 wins this year, or maybe even low-30's.

Carter>Gaborik because Gaborik is oft injured and is currently out a month. Also Sharpe is centering the leagues top scorer. Not gonna happen.

That's actually what I was thinking about. The Rangers pretty much suck this year.

Clarify: You mean he won't trade Sharp to me? This guy is a Philly homer and would probably do the Pronger for Sharp part. Plus, his offense is stacked with Stamkos, Perry and Semin all doing well.

Why would he move the 2nd leading goal scorer in the league who is centering the leagues top scorer for Pronger? Whether he's deep at forward or not. Homer or not that'd just be a bad move on his part.

Don't like it.

Luong >>> Lundy in Wins/SO only league. Rags are weak, Couver should win division if not conference. Weak division.

With the boost for defensemen scoring I would not move Pronger, his goals will come.

It looks like there is no distinction among forward positions. I don't see anything wrong with your team at all. Seems like you're making a trade just to shake things up and giving up the better goalie and a top defenseman, which in a league like this are tougher to come by than decent forwards. I'd stand pat a while longer.

I was waiting for your reply...and I thank you for confirming my suspicions. My team does look good, but no one is scoring and unfortunately, if you fall too far behind this soon, it is very hard to catch up. I'm not used to being last!

You are spot on in your assessment above. Top d-men are a premium, whereas, it is easier to pick up and drop forwards for whoever may be running hot at the time (Morrow currently - dropped Zherdev, who was a draft pick, for him last week)

Thanks!

Would you do this trade:

Receiving: Gaborik and Giordano

for Doan and Pitkanen

?

The league counts PIMs, I assume? What about hits?

I think I much prefer the Gaborik/Giordano side. So, I'd do the deal if that's what I was getting, I'd decline the offer if I had Gab/Gio, though. But, plenty of GMs might take the deal with Pitkanen's hot start and Gio's slow start/Gaborik's injury.

What do you guys think of this deal:

I'm giving up Luongo, Nicklas Backstrom, and Dustin Byfuglien
I'd be getting Daniel Sedin, Drew Doughty, and Jeff Carter
