They've had the same product for five years. Don't have H2H Points, which is growing in popularity in the fantasy hockey world (as it should). ESPN has it and has significantly overhauled their fantasy hockey in the past few years. Fantrax also has H2H points. Yahoo! doesn't have farm players. Fantrax has every player in the world and farm/minors slots on team rosters. Yahoo! has little-to-no commentary on fantasy hockey other than an often late "Big Board." Yahoo! has a familiar interface that people are comfortable with, and I think that's the only reason why it continues to get fantasy hockey traffic.

I can't really evaluate 8-team leagues. (1) I don't play in teams that small and (2) every roster looks the same - stacked. These leagues more than any others come down to luck because everyone has stars.

Neuvy is not "the starter" in Washington he's "starting in the opener." I am a big Neuvy fan, but, I don't know if he gets a roster spot in an 8-team league with such small rosters. Given his starting role in the opener, fine, but, I bet he turns into waiver wire fodder. Also, Yandle > Bouwmeester in any sort of standard league.

Only other weak player on the team I see is Hornqvist - probably doesn't belong on a roster in 8-teamer, I think he's due to stay where he was if not dip a bit.

Yeah. I just committed to a 5-year deal in my keeper league. Looking like trouble for this season potentially. Most of my young guys that I have built my future around are struggling out of the gates. I have not choice but to be patient, but I am a bit concerned.

Fantasy Hockey Discussion

Thinking of offering this trade

Lecavalier
Neuvirth
Karlsson

for

Hossa
Campbell(IR)

Guy has Varly as one of his goalies.

Even? Not even?

Hossa was the best player on the ice during the Chi/Buf game the other day. Neuvy is currently something like 5-1. Karllson is garbage. Once Campbell comes back, he usually puts up semi-decent numbers as a #3 dman on his team.

I'd do it. Hossa looks too good to pass on and I'm in the school of whoever is getting the best player wins the trade and the best player in that trade is Hossa.

I'm thrilled with my defense right now. Green, Gogo, Subban, Enstrom, and Pitkanen.

Maybe remove the d-men and just offer Lecavalier and Neuvirth for Hossa. Like I said guy has Varly. Oh and NPV check PMs :fist:

Edit: Shot down, expected it but can't not try and see if a guy would overvalue having the Caps goalie situation handcuffed.

What about

Neuvirth
Backes
Karlsson

for

Elias
R. Whitney

Yes I realize Karlsson is "garbage" currently, he is on a PP with Gonch though. I'm trying to free roster space.

I just made the following trade:

I give: Semin & Carey Price
I get: Stastny & Luongo

I know Price has been solid so far, but I don't trust him over the course of a season. I think Stastny has a load of potential. I like Semin but I had to give up something.

Big win for you IMO. Luongo is a fantasy stud despite only winning one game so far. Stastny is gonna put up 75-85 points. Great move for you cause it's only a matter of time before Price falters.

First off...

opie22002 wrote:I like Semin

lulz.

Second off, I disagree that its a great deal. Its kind of a wash to me. Statsny is going to put up the points, but not nearly as much as Semin, imo. Semin has been the best Cap so far this season and its a contract year. Price for Luongo is a good deal, but Price looks a lot like the better goalie right now, which probably won't last. I don't know if giving up Semin, is enough to justify getting Luongo.

I think the only thing he's really giving up in the Semin/Stastny trade off is +/- IMO they have a very similar point ceiling. It'll probably come down to if Price keeps up his good play or if he goes back to the Carey Price we're all used to. Either way Luongo will be a 40 win goalie by the end of the season.

I only picked 9th, not as bad as 12th, but still not great. And its only the first week of the season, so I'll probably finish 12th when its all said and done.

Semin's injury proneness offsets the edge he has over Stastny as a winger vs. center. Their points should be similar ~80. Luongo over Price all day if for no other reason than the fact that his trade value will be much higher than Price. There's also the whole he's a better fantasy player thing too -- better goalie, consistently one of the top fantasy goalies, stronger team, weaker division, less regular season pressure, etc.

That's a no brainer deal, in my opinion. That you could get such a sell high/buy low type deal done after one week does not reflect positively on the competition in your league.

I own him and he has these games where you want to stab your eyes out. The problem is that he mixes them in with 2 great games, so his stats come out average for the week. It's frustrating, but it's better than having Carey Price who has two crappy games then one ok game to give him bad stats.
