This thread = how we'll respond to some other team trading Tangradi in a few years. :pop:

Regardless of how his NHL career plays out, I can't imagine Tangardi having that abysmal of AHL stats at that stage of his career.

The again, did anyone expect Caputi to fall quite this hard? Caputi's best AHL points per game rate is better than anything Tangradi has ever done in the minors. And that came in Caputi's age 21 season (when he was traded by the Pens). Tangradi is soon to be 23. Puts things into perspective.

Caputi damn near made the Maple Leafs out of camp 2 season ago, then had a massive injury early in the AHL season, I forget what it was, but he missed the whole year. He had the best camp of any player not to make that roster, and even better than a bunch of the guys who did.

This season, he's just been unable to grind back up the depth chart because of his injury and the Marlies' depth.

I think a change of scenery will be really good for him. He's still got skill.

Deschamps isn't exactly lighting it up this seasons either, but he posted a decent 46 points in 80 games as a rookie last year. I got to see him play the last half of his final year in junior, and the kid's got a good enough skillset.

Totally agree. Whether Tangradi pans out as an NHLer or not, he's already proving to be a pretty good AHL (depth) player.

Deschamps scored tonight for the Marlies. I wonder how long Syracuse will be waiting for Caputi to net one? :pop:

I can tell you every Ponikerovski bridge jumper didn't expect it. To some people here Caputi was going to be a perenial all star in years to come, mainly because Poni didnt work out.

Caputi and Tangradi are both suffering from the same disease. They can't skate.

Poni was never going to "work out"; he sucked in Toronto and there's no reason people should've expected that to change when he got here.

even though poni didn't work out, i still like that trade. shero gave up an apparently iffy prospect for one of the highest profile wingers available at the deadline. i will NEVER criticize him for making deals like this, even if they don't pan out.

My brother had a friend in HS, who did way too much cocaine.
His last name was Caputi and I always picture him, when I see Luca's last name.

I'm not sure there was anyone at all who thought he was going to be more than a fringe 2nd/3rd liner that would be a fit on the second line with the thin set of wings the pens are likely to have for a long time.

Luca is a Toronto born player. Based on his previous statistics, he needed to get the hell out of the media hockey nightmare that is Toronto. It sucks double when you get sent down to the farm which is in the same city, you never escape. Plus, all the old puck bunnies know where he lives!
