Yep. I think the Sharks have a "Regular Season Champions" banner from their President's Trophy year as well. The Sharks fans around me when I first saw it didn't find it as funny as I did.

That is hilarious.. I mean..I can ALMOST understand putting up a presidents trophy banner, but not really, because noone cares/remembers who won the Presidents trophy if you don't win the Cup, but division and Eastern Conference Regular Season Champs.. WTF... that means you are celebrating not even being the best team in the whole league in the REGULAR season.. only to be bounced in the second round of the playoffs...

The only one that doesn't fall under the "division playoff" format would be the 2007-2008 when they won the Atlantic.

The "Oops" was directed at this thread, not you. The only thing that the Caps display that the Pens do not is ECRS Champs banner. Presumably, if the Pens had any such seasons, they would display a banner, since displaying a (regular season) divisional banner is more insignificant than a (regular season) conference banner.

Not to belabor this conversation, but I think at least a couple of the Northeast Division banners are regular season banners.

And I think its stupid, Pens or Caps, or Sharks or Stars, or anyone. Regular season means nothing.

edit: Eastern Conf Champ as in of the playoffs, okay, I can understand that one, sorta, but for example you wont catch me dead in a hat or t shirt that says Eastern Conf Champs from 2008.
