Thomas blows off team visit to the White House

Postby llipgh2 on Mon Jan 23, 2012 4:09 pm

He couldn't put his politics aside for 1 day?

EDIT: A little more in the ESPN story. I think the Bruins would have liked the entire team present, from the quotes.

I am not a fan of Obama, but this seems dumb.

In related news, Hank Williams Jr was seen earlier today purchasing a Thomas jersey.

I haven't cleaned my bathroom in a month.

Seems equally newsworthy.

Tim Thomas has now taken the lead in the Florida Republican Primary. Rasmussen has him up 5 over Gingrich and 12 over Romney.

meh, who cares. It's his choice, and the GM/owner knew about it. I'm not going to crucify the guy.

Timmy's pretty hot headed, maybe it was for the best. For some reason I just imagined him raging and smashing things up during the photo op

But really, if the B's didn't make it mandatory then that's his right regardless of any player and president's differing political affiliations, though one would hope his teammates already knew ahead of time.

From what the ESPN article said, he informed the team this AM.

Me, I'd go just to say I did it. Heck, I'd even have met Dubya if I had the chance. I'd accept the chance to meet any sitting/former POTUS.

EDIT: Politically I'm center to left of center.

Doesn't seem very classy to me. If the POTUS invites you to the White House to celebrate your championship, you attend, regardless of political beliefs.

It tells me that his political views are more important than sharing in a celebration with his team.

The twitter jokes are hilarious...

Jaromir Jagr is wondering why a right winger not showing up in Washington is such big news in NHL circles.

Harrison skipped the white house both times

Both times he stressed it was nothing political, just wasn't a big deal to him. Said something along the lines of it's just a traditional photo op and if the other team won they'd be the one going / didn't excite him

Tommy gun skipped because he was mad the steelers cut him

Porter was the one who made anti george w comments, but he ended up going

Harrison skipping because he wasn't interested is just.... odd to me. I mean the place would at least be interesting to look at and I imagine you'd probably get something good to eat. :?

Is Thomas married, because that won't last if he doesn't do all kinds of things that he doesn't want to. :pop:
