Lucic beat up an elderly White House employee. When approached by Secret Service, he just wanted to talk it out.

Then Chara stepped in and did all the work for him anyways

Bruins' GM says no suspension or fine for missing "a team function." I wouldn't be too shocked to see Tuukka Rask start the next few games in net though.

I have to admit that the first thought that came to my head was about wether or not lli's kind of gross Tim Thomas love would be effected by her politics.

As opposed to the, lets take the anti-bush, supposed post-partisanship opportunism to shove government control over the health care industry. Politics is always about opportunism.

The streak continues... 5 straight Stanley Cup winners have lost the next game after their visit to the White House.

Boston Globe article on Timmy and the team:

http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... to_bruins/

For several months, Bruins personnel ranging from owner Jeremy Jacobs to the rank-and-file players knew that Tim Thomas wasn’t planning to attend Monday’s ceremony at the White House. None was surprised that Thomas, one of two Americans on last year’s Stanley Cup-winning roster, would be the lone dissident.

It was Timmy being Timmy.

“[Expletive] selfish [expletive],’’ one team source said.

The article says that he often puts himself ahead of the team, with his "me against the world" personality from being bounced around the minors and Europe earlier in his career. The writer also feels that it won't affect the locker room, as they are all used to his shenanigans.

So much for team first.

As an aside, it reminds me of when a few of the New York Mets (including K-Rod) failed to show for a team charity event for children....Nice.

It has been pointed out that while the liberal-biased Boston Globe has been blasting Tim Thomas for skipping the Obama visit, they did nothing of the sort when the Red Sox GM, Theo Epstein, and owner, John Henry, refused a visit to the Bush White House following a World Series victory. The usual double standard.

To me that's equally childish. Take one for the team and go.

i think the decision makers in our government are pure scum, and i'd love to do something poignant like decline a meeting with the president...but if i were to do so, i'd need a lot more ammo to post on my facebook than thomas did. i don't have enough of an eloquent case to make it meaningful - just like thomas. plus...dude is a glenn beck fan. this isn't about some righteous revolutionary belief against the government as a whole. this reeks of a right winger not wanting to meet with the democratic president.

Thomas decided not to go...Who cares. I'm sure Obama lost sleep over it. Timmy stayed home and counted his money instead.

I think this is a little over the top. It should really be his decision if he wants to attend or not. I'd be surprised if any of his teammates really cared. The media is blowing it up as usual...
