We aren't talking career stats, don't change the argument.

Also, even comparing Lidstrom to Green is a huge insult to Lidstrom.

Because I'm obviously comparing their all around games. We're talking strictly offense. And only 46% of Greens career points have come on the powerplay. Just so we get that straight.

Only 2 defensemen have scored 30 goals in the last 20 years. Green and Hatcher. Mike Green has already had 2 seasons averaging more than 1 point per game.

This league hasn't seen a defenseman put up points like Green since the early 90's

I'll counter that with "None of those d-men were on a team with a line of Ovechkin-Backstrom-Semin when they were actually good"

Lidstrom and/or Hatcher?

Hatcher was with the Caps when he scored 34 in 1992-1993.

Sorry I have a dissenting opinion, but I stand by it. I don't care how good Green is at offense, TBH. He's a D-man. He should be good in the D-zone. He is not.

Would you say what he bring to the ice every night (when healthy) helps his team win?

But Green plays his role extremely well. His job is to score points and he does that. I think it's more important to play your role than play your "position"

Watch Dustin Byfuglien play several games on defense and you may change your mind about that.

Green's biggest problem right now isn't his past poor playoff performances or whether his game has declined in offense while improving in his own end some during the last 3 years, it's whether he can get and stay healthy.

Well you'd be crazy. Theres at most 5 dimension in the league who are better than Green. Lidstrom, Letang, Keith, Weber, and Chara.

Thats nonsense. Theres those 5 and atleast a few more, Suter and Yandle for example. Give me the players who will put up 40-50 points and play well above average defensively over Green any day. The fact that he's injury prone doesnt help any either.

Yes, I would take Suter over Green...but not Weber.

Any way we can get Michal Rozsival? Should the Pens be interested in him?

And on that note, how have we made it this far in a thread about AO (okay, *originally* about AO) without anyone mentioning Kolzig's comments from earlier this week? Always liked Kolzig but even more so now. GMGM didn't exactly refute him, either.
