There's a good halal restaurant right near there; at least that's something.

If they move to Brooklyn they should change the name of the team to the Brawlers, and have their uniforms consist of a dirty, ripped, white t-shirt and dirty, ripped jeans.

The Brooklyn Atlantic Yards arena is to be a small-floor arena, designed for basketball, but not hockey. Hockey can be played there, but several thousand seats behind one goal will provide no view of about 1/3 of the ice (the near end zone). It would not be an acceptable permanent home for an NHL team, but could possibly be a temporary home for a few years.

The movie version with Natalie Wood was set in Brooklyn.

Don't blame me I was forced to sit through it.

Then we go the other way:
Isles to Jersey while the Devils relocate.

I don't think moving the Isles to Jersey would solve the problem... Devils have enough trouble with selling tickets with the team they have now. Imagine how bad it'll be if those fans have to watch the Isles?

But the point the the Devils are still losing money throws a wrench in the 1st option. By moving the Isles, the NHL is gambling on the Isles fans becoming Devils fans (which may not happen).

It's definitely a small conundrum. Moving both teams is an option, but IMO that's a little too much. Then, you'd have 2 pissed off fan bases.

I would move one from the area, but I wouldn't move both.

Then what do you think about the whole fan thing? What happens when/if the fans of the team that gets moved don't hop on to the team that stays/the Rangers? The other team still there will still be down in attendance...

So your solution is to keep two teams in the same area in which they both don't make money?

At the very least, it's addition by subtraction (for the time being); at most, you move it to KC/Seattle/wherever and it's the next Minnesota.

I never said I had a solution.

I'm just asking what you would think in that situation. If you do move one, what happens to the fans who lost a team? Will they follow the new one, since they don't want to root for their rivals? Or would they root for the other team that wasn't in danger of moving (aka the Rangers)?

My city's team didn't move in mine, my father's, or my grandfather's lifetime, so I can't properly answer the question, but I'd say I'd probably route for the team with my favourite player on it.

OK, so let's assume your favorite player was Tavares (if the Islanders left) or Zach Parise (if the Devs left).

You obviously aren't gonna cheer for the Devils or Islanders (respectively), so the team left is not getting your money.

(Am I making sense? I'm trying to do like 6 thing right now, so I'm hoping this is at least making some sense)

What if everyone decides they're gonna do the same thing you are (because New York/New Jersey is not Canada, I'm assuming most people don't watch hockey for hockey's sake)? The team remaining is still in the same position (especially if some of the potential fans go to the Rangers).

I assume fans of the game would rather watch hockey than not.
