Based on the teams that have touched that spot, might as well put it up in the Craigslist free section, at which point WAS will be posting in the "Missed Connection" section.

The "winner" of the Southeast division could have the least amount of points among the 8 playoff teams from the Eastern Conference.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capitals-insider/post/alex-ovechkin-limping-after-capitals-5-0-loss-to-hurricanes/2012/02/21/gIQAtiNWQR_blog.html

Both Coach Dale Hunter and Ovechkin attributed the captain’s absence in the second period to a skate problem, but the star left wing was limping when he emerged from a private area of the dressing room to speak with reporters.

“Just a skate,” Ovechkin said.

Hunter added: “It was equipment issues there, he was back in the third.”

With 6 minutes 2 seconds remaining in the second period Ovechkin left the game and didn’t return until the start of the third. He took only five shifts in the third period, one of which was two seconds long, and didn’t take a shift in the final 5:45 of regulation.

Only to lose to Anaheim in the Stanley Cup Finals. The End.

The Panthers, leading the division right now, are 9th in the Conference in wins (the Caps are 7th). Teams from the Atlantic are 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

The goal differentials for the teams in the Southeast are -16, -18, -7, -38, and -25.

Issues such as this will be more prevalent under the proposed realignment--which appeared very popular regardless.

I'm confused. Doesn't that mean these issues will be less prevalent?

Not necessarily, since each division will get 4 teams in the playoffs regardless of whether they have more points than the 5th through 8th teams in the other division.
