Word is that Tampa may be trading Quincy to Detroit for a first. That's pretty interesting. Detroit originally lost Quincy to waivers and now may be paying a pretty high price to get him back a few years later. You don't usually see them make that kind of error.

Quicney traded to Detroit for a first rounder. What a move by Yzerman.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
I am now hearing TB has traded Kyle Quincey to DET. Working on details but sounds like Quincey to DET for a first-round pick. Verifying.

EDIT:
LOL, and then:

Dave Lozo @DaveLozo

I really hope the Red Wings trade Kyle Quincey to the Avalanche for Steve Downie.

Looks like Detroit didn't want to take Downie, so they had Yzerman get someone they wanted for Downie in order to get their 1st round pick?

So the Avs could have had a first rounder instead? Horrible management there.

Yzerman is reason away all the people I hate in TB. Now he needs to fire their poor excuse for a coach and I might like them.

So Tampa Bay has gotten Quincey, two 2nd round picks(one conditional), a 4th round pick, and a prospect for Pavel Kubina, Steve Downie, and Dominic Moore.

That trade is a steal for Yzerman. Turned Steve Downie into a 1st round draft pick.

Real_ESPNLeBrun Tampa now has 2 first-rounders, 3 second-round rounders, and another second-rounder in either '12 or '13 at Florida's option (Kubina)

Man. Detroit is set with Quincey as a #5?! Wow. Lidstrom, White, Kronwall, Stuart, Quincey is an awesome five defensemen.

Detroit is a favorite to win it all, no doubt about it. They made the reference that it was great for trading for Quincey in being prepared for Stuart to walk at the end of the year.

Stevie Y has now accumulated 2 1st rounders and 4 2nd rounders in this draft. Man on a mission. Downie didn't fit, Detroit needed D help, both are RFAs and he nets another prospect along with a 1st along the way.

Obviously, this trade is good deal by Yzerman, but I don't know if I'd go too far praising him as a GM in general just yet. Not getting a better option in net in the offseason might have very well sunk Tampa's chances at the playoffs this year. I know Roloson was good in the playoffs last year, but it seems foolish for a playoff team to rely on a goalie who is that old and who has such a spotty track record.

Rolo didn't really have a spotty track record. He was just old and no one could have predicted him falling this far this fast from just one year. Also Vokoun and Bryz haven't exactly been stellar in their gigs. I think Stevie uses one of those 1sts and pulls Bernier or Schnieder.

This must be a weak draft this coming year. Teams typically value these picks much more...that said, Detroit #1 pick is really a low 2nd round pick...they didn't give up the farm...they are going for the cup!

This draft is good at the top end of the 1st round, questionable as always from there.

They Trade Moore, then trade Kubina, then trade Downie. Are they sellers? Buyers? Sellers?

I no understand.

I can't believe Stevie was able to turn that scrap heap into a pile of early round draft picks

Is their team even any worse this year because of it?
