Connecticut sign Marek Hrivik to ATO

I've talked about this guy a lot leading up to the last couple of drafts. IMO, this is a real steal for the Whale and, potentially, the Rangers. Hrivik's got size, hands, and a great work ethic - I hope everything works out for him, though I wish it was the Baby Pens giving him the tryout.

Think of him like a less-physical Matt Cooke, but with better hands.

Sounds like they've been impressed with Hrivik so far.

Through the first round of the playoffs, and a sweep of Bridgeport, Hrivik is leading the Whale in scoring with 4 goals and 0 assists in 3 games.

With the Whale out of the playoffs, Hrivik officially led the team in scoring with 5G 4A in 9 games. As a result, he's found himself being called up by the Rangers to be part of their Black Aces.

Not bad for a guy who was packing to go back home to Slovakia just over a month ago.

So glad to see him getting rewarded. Still blows my mind that he was passed over in 3 drafts.
