Malkin has.the best resume of any of the current top players, so he probably should be the highest paid player in the league

How is it that he has the best resume of any of the current top players? I'd wager that Crosby's is pretty clearly better.

Since he has to pass through waivers, I'm guessing there's no way he makes it to Anaheim.

Generally and I mean generally, speaking you don't put in a claim in a situation like this. Unless you're really hot on the guy. It's happened before (Nabokov and Randy Robitaille come to mind), but I think the rule of thumb is you don't make this claim unless you really, really think he's an upgrade.

The Ducks have a lot of kids rotating through the fourth line, this will give them a chance to head back to the AHL I presume and let Dvorak just do his thing...always liked Dvorak, except against the Pens, where he's scored roughly 105% of his career goals it seems...

The Nabokov thing is what came to mind when I posted this, but I thought there was another veteran within the last 2-3 years that tried to pass through waivers and was snagged by a lower team. His numbers might have dropped off over the last few years, but I remember him being decent on the PK and (like you said) a Penguin killer.

2 scoring titles, a Hart trophy, and a Conn Smythe. Not saying he is better than Crosby, just that his resume is better

As of now, anyway... could very well be even up by the time he can negotiate extension

I guess...If you're Trophy counting its close. Crosby does have the Rocket and Messier awards...as well as having captained gold(A) and stanley cup winning teams. If you're looking at what he's actually done on score sheet, then its not really a discussion.

Same actually. I was like "wow this guy really puts on his sunglasses fast...how in the hell did that happen...and what a weird reaction to something..." and then I saw his friend either didn't know how to clap or something was wrong and then I just kind of figured it out...makes a lot more sense now...

For the first time in his career.

GMs have learned nothing and we will be right back in a lockout situation once again.

He makes 1.7 mil per less than Crosby. That's a giant problem for me.

For the first time in his career.

73 pts in 77 games (second season)
79 points in 62 games (fourth)
84 pts in 73 games (fifth)
30 pts in 30 games (today)

He's put up the points, and he's never been nearly as bad defensively as people make him out to be. He's lazy usually, but he picks his spots. Boudreau wasn't exactly Mr. Defense himself. This year he's been pretty much on point. He's one of the league's elite talents.

I would sign in Carolina if i was a player (I wish). I like Rutherford. They take care of their players and they appear to have a good reputation as an organization...

Absolutely, KG. From everyone I've talked to, Carolina is a family. If you take care of them, they'll take care of you. It's a small market team that's done pretty well for itself since moving. Things could have been a lot worse down there for them, but they treat their people right and good things happen.

It is a solid organization. Give them a year or so...they'll be fine. I like the signing and think Semin has meshed well with the Staals and co.

His wrist shot is arguably the best in the league currently. Almost Kovalev like.

I've been saying for probably 5 years now that he has the best wrist shot in the league. Even in Ovechkin's prime, I maintained that Semin's was better. He just throws it into the net. It's not even fair really.

Yeah it's just so effortless and it comes out like a rocket and hits heavy. Really beautiful shot.
