One thing Hartnell excels at - taking stupid penalties.

The remarkable, simultaneous resurrection of Backstrom, Green and Ovechkin is due solely to the genius that is Adam Oates.

Not to mention the fact that the Caps had an incredibly soft schedule the past couple of weeks.

I think the universe might explode if Asham and Fedotenko play on the same team, at the same time.
It's somewhat shocking that it hasn't happened.

The whole situation with the Caps' resurgence just infuriates me.

Today's trash text: This is how a team fights to the end and doesn't tank.

My reply: 2003-04 Pens last 15 g: 10-3-2 w/no losing streaks of, say, 4 games - xoxo
Follow up: and no best player in the world either Giroux + the 2 were Ts not Ls

God, no. He'd never do that--ever. Friend of ours. I accept the occasional trash text from our friend because he's really good-natured about it all and not mean-spirited and hateful like most phans.

Perhaps. But the primary reason is Oates. He understands Ovechkin because he (Oates) was a great offensive player himself. Oates moved Ovechkin to the right side. Even if the majority of the latter's shots still come from the left side, it is only the truly inspired who are able to make a meaningful mirage. He (Oates) also had Ovechkin go to the front of the net, something Ovechkin had only done three times in his career until the last month.
And how about the recently rudderless Backstrom and Green? They too have been rehabilitated by the great helmsman, Oates.
One can only shake their head in wonderment.

Amazing!

Shutdown the capitals power play and they'll disappear quickly.

I get that the Caps play the Pens tough and they have a good Power play, but other than the power play where do they have an advantage? I don't see one and even the power play isn't that much better.

I'm going to be sick. Suddenly the Caps are the darlings and toast of the east again. My worst fear in hockey is the Pens get eliminated by those clowns, seems like everyone outside of Pittsburgh wants it and is practically predicting it.

51 points by the 8th seed eliminates Philly.

If Philly loses, 49 points eliminates them. Am I reading this right?
