Spending all that cash in the offseason, and the possibility to lose to Edmonton and Colorado to end the season. Probably the worst ending to their season ever.

It would also cost Yeo his job. Although, with the players they have, I'd be inclined to fire him unless they make it past the first round.

It seems like the Pens always end up against Ottawa in the first round

/tinfoil hat on
If Rangers were to lose in regulation tomorrow, and I were the Flyers, I'd let Ottawa come away with a least a point so Pens/Rangers had to beat up on each other.

I fear no team against this Pens team. The only team that can be the Pens are the Pens.

How is Corey Freaking Potter a regular on any NHL team?

I ask myself this every time I watch the Oilers. He gets worse every year it seems. Just seems to get less and less cognizant of what's going on around him all the time...

I remember he looked somewhat serviceable (keyword: SOMEWHAT) when he played with the Pens for like 5 minutes.

So tonight, if Columbus wins, they can advance into the playoffs with either a DET loss or a MIN loss.

If both DET and MIN lose and Columbus wins, MIN will get the 8 seed based on ROW.

If Columbus loses it's a moot point and DET and MIN will both advance.

Awesome, awesome stuff for the last day of the regular season.

Not to mention the 4-6 seeds in the west, the 6-8 seeds in the east, and the northeast division title.

Wow...I did not remember that he was a Penguin. Would have lost a bet on it. Usually I'm good with obscure names and things...completely spaced on that one...

I'm torn on how I want things to play out today. I think I'd rather the Pens play the Isles. Ottawa figures to get a big boost with Karlsson back, and the Rangers have a pretty good core of players who have underachieved until the last month or so. It'd be nice to see the Rangers play the Caps or Bruins. Plus, playing the Isles would give the Pens a chance to exorcise some of the demons from '93.

Out west, I think Detroit/Chicago would be the most interesting of the possible 8/1 match-ups, and the one most likely to cause the Hawks to break a sweat. However, it would be great to see Columbus in the playoffs.

I'm torn too. Lunquist and the Rangers scare me a bit, but I think the Pens could dispose of Ottawa and NYI fairly quickly..
