Puck Daddy is terrible.

Postby Godric on Fri May 03, 2013 6:13 pm

I remember in 2007 when Puck Daddy was actually a good read. Its flipping terrible now.

Dmitry Chesnokov is good and he is the exception but my god.... Ryan Lambert is god awful, Sean Leahy isn't any good either and Wysh is horribad.

90% of LGP posters can write better than Ryan Lambert.

I seldom ever click Yahoo links...I never cared for Puck Daddy ever, nice to see that others are starting to realize it sucks noodles...he's good for casual fans it seems, he has that "he hates all the same things I do" casual mindset. Otherwise (or even, samewise), it's just another fan blog basically...

Lambert isn't terrible. That Lahey (sic) guy isnt bad either. Wysh is a whore. And based on his writing style, Harrison Mooney is likely a 12 year old.

That's why I read it as well. Now, I just use this board and /r/hockey.

I rarely read it anymore, but the podcast is quite enjoyable. Jeff Marek is awesome.

Have never liked it. Seems like a poorly formatted sports blog.

You want good blogs?

Justin Bourne's blog is the bee's knees.

I don't want any blogs...The benefit of a blog is lost on me.

Leahy and Chesnokov are usually worth reading. There's probably a slight bias to reading Leahy since he's a Pens fan.
I don't hate on Lambert as much as everybody else, but his trolling act is a bit tiresome though.
Wyshynski? If it's a non-NHL article but still hockey-related, I'm reading.
Mooney is just a bad writer. Terrible. If I see an article has his name on it, I won't even bother.

Bourne? I'd put him in Leahy and Chesnokov's class, and he's also a good follow on twitter.

Agree with all this, except as to Wysh, who I haven't read in a while. Katie Baker (Grantland) is a decent read, and she will link some good stuff.

Friedman's 30 thoughts are always good.

It just seems like Puck Daddy's writers grab for the lowest hanging fruit and regurgitate other bloggers and beat writers. I guess that's kind of the point of a general hockey blog, but I don't think it's very good. Controversial hit? It will be up on there with blogger tweets and comments in seconds. Derp.

I've been reading the New York Times' blog, Slap Shot, and although it covers the NY-NJ teams closely, it also has general articles about the NHL as well.
