Anton Belov on leaving the Oilers for the KHL:

“There is no one reason that made it an abrupt change. It all was building up during the season, especially more so after the Olympics. And the hire of coach Bykov (by SKA) was also an influence. The other point is that I could have re-signed with Edmonton, but I didn’t want to stay with that coach [Dallas Eakins]…”

Minnesota might be the only home city not to give their goalie a star in a shutout, overtime, playoff win.

I know 3 stars are bunk anyhow, but odd.

Keith Jones said the goal was "Bobby Orr-like" and then Milbury had an aneurism that Jones dare compare that to Orr's goal.

Are they going to retroactively suspend AO for kneeing?
Because that one was worse than Cooke.

Matt Cooke might get the chair for this one. He should change his name to Oveckin before his hearing.

They are punishing the who and the injury instead of the act. Ovechkin gets his leg out and jumps into Gonchar, two minute penalty, no supplemental discipline.

Anyone else really not caring about Getzlaf being shoved around and punched in the jaw? You don't want to be targeted then don't instigate and initiate.

*sigh* oh Cookie.....I would say, "at least he's not our problem anymore." but the talking heads will still find a way to blame the Pens for this one. :scared:

Really don't have much of an issue with the Cooke hit. He'll probably have the book thrown at him because of his name, but any other player the two minute minor would most likely be the end of it. Maybe a one game suspension, but in the playoffs I wouldn't hold my breathe.

I've enjoyed welcoming the Wild fans on Hockey's Future into the "Matt Cooke's on your team so you have to take crap for it" club. :pop:

Any player is getting looked at for a long suspension for that hit.

The clip package NHLN put together was almost exclusively of him in a Pens sweater. Could be he hasn't had time to build up new incidents in a green jersey, or it could be a CONSPIRACY.

Outside of the times he put the Pens at a disadvantage because of his antics, I always liked Cookie when he was here. That being said, I am glad that the Pens dont have to bear his cross anymore.

The only thing I'll really say in Cooke's defense is that Barrie bails out and ended up making a little more trouble for himself. It's tough for a good skater like that to want to take the contact...but sometimes trying to dodge hits like that, you end up in a tough spot.

On a lighter note, Kari Lehtonen shuts out the Ducks. Great effort from him last night. There goes my only projected sweep, but I'll take that for some Kari action...
