The man-love for MSL squashed that idea.

MSL brings more to the table then Neal does.

MSL doesn't bring anything that someone else all ready on the team doesn't bring.

They wanted MSL because Neal already has a spot on their summer Olympic diving team. :rimshot:

You could probably say the same for James Neal.

I would have gone with Giroux or Staal, but whatever.....they're pretty stacked.

I think he'd nail down the most one-dimensional player award fairly easily.

Well, how many of the natural RWers bring a strong two-way game?

Carter - When he's on. But I recall his best two-way season was at center.
Nash - no
Perry - no
Sharp is on the left (also, a natural center anyhow, but plays a lot of RW in the NHL) and then there's Bergeron who isn't a natural RWer, but is the best defensive forward on the team...

So you get a little something extra on that right side...Kunitz and Sharp play it both ways, Marleau is capable...

Babcock asked why he’d put that threesome together, Babcock suggested he’d started wondering himself.

“You can’t pass — you’ve got to shoot it at the net. Carter shoots the puck when he gets it in L.A.; he’ll be expected to shoot the puck when he gets it here.”

“If he’s giving it back to Sid, he can’t play with him.”

He was in my left wing list, but I don't make any transition to suggest that, so unless you're me, it's hard to figure out what I'm talking about...

Marleau rarely ever played the right because popular linemates Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski, Tommy Wingels and Matthew Nieto are all fairly capable...mostly the first two...

Pretty much. Carter is being put on that line to shoot the puck.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: First 10 minutes on the ice for practice and Crosby and Babcock have been in full conversation mode, going over every detail.

As someone on twitter said, the best player in the world gets put with the 2 weakest wingers on the team.

In other words, the source doesn't matter, I'm just not claiming another's to be my own original thought...

Is there a player on Team Canada that will feel more pressure then Crosby's RW? How much of anything else is talked about right now.

Pretty much. Carter is being put on that line to shoot the puck.

I find this interesting, as Sid doesn't need a pure sniper on his RW to succeed. I assume it's a bit of hyperbole, and that Carter will get more freedom that to simply rip a shot whenever he's passed the puck.

He will, but he is being put on that line to be a finisher. It's basically Babcock telling him not to pass up on opportunities to shoot - very similar to what Neal does for the Pens.

CHRIS KUNITZ
About: Chris Kunitz rides Sidney Crosby’s coattails on the Pittsburgh Penguins. To his credit, he’s a world-class coattail-rider, riding them all the way to the Olympics. If coattail-riding were an Olympic sport, and I haven’t checked, so it very may well be, Kunitz could win gold in it. He’ll likely start on Crosby’s line, because, you know, coattails, and because, somewhere along the line people decided that Crosby, the best player in the world, who significantly improves his linemates, is “difficult to play with.” Kunitz is actually a pretty good player, but there’s no chance he makes Team Canada if he didn’t play on Crosby’s line in Pittsburgh.
Nickname(s): Kunikaze, Hedgehog
My wife thinks he looks like: Adam DeVine
Expect to hear: “What a goal. Great feed from Crosby.”
Don’t expect to hear: “Kunitz is the best player on his line.”

Also, can't believe they missed "Honey Badger".
