Edmonton claims Nedved on re-entry waivers

Postby ville5 on Tue Jan 02, 2007 12:44 pm

After hearing for a few days that Ottawa's gonna claim him, Lowe sneaks under the radar and grabs Nedved. At half his pro-rated, remaining salary.

Interesting. I did read a rumor earlier that claimed Edmonton had interest in Nedved. I bet Ottawa is peeved!

What could you get that would help though.? At worst, Malone is a 20 goal guy. If he "gets it" he could be way more than that. I think people look at his age, forget he's only in his 3rd year of pro hockey, and expect more than they should.

Given the dearth of talent the Pens have on the wings, Malone should be kept. Saying he's the best wing they have isn't saying much, but on this team, I believe it to be true.

No, at worst he is a 17-goal scorer. That's how many he projects to this season. If Ottawa is desparate enough, they might actually think he's good and give up one of their good D-men or even Corvo for him.

That's not factoring in his injury time though. 5 goals in 19 games projects to 21 over a full season, so what I said is still true. :P

Corvo has double the points of Malone. I don't think they're that desperate, and besides Corvo's -11 (second worst on the team) should raise an eyebrow or two. There are only 4 players on Ottawa's roster that have logged more than 30 games and are minus.

Preissing's the guy to look at, but the Sens won't be moving him either.

Wow, Nedved is a minus 20. Before the allstar break. With some time with the Phantoms.
