how many bench minors do we have to take??
getting 5 players on the ice and 5 off is his job!!!! can we scratch him for a game to send a message? it seems every game we get called to for too many men or come real close.
i know there will be alot of people down after the loss but look at it this way...if crosby played the last 3 games do u think we would have went 0-1-2? i dont were still in the playoff race and we are still in the Atlantic division race...
on tuesday Crosby will be back and will light up the Islanders!!!

It is not the coach's job to tell players when to go. When a LW comes off the next LW goes. MT just says which line is next.

But it's more convenient to blame the coaches! I chalk a lot of it up to inexperience. The coaches can only do so much.

so again can someone tell the dummy here who is responsible for the too many men on the ice, the coach or players or both and can you please explain to me how it works getting the right ones on and not having too many. I know that the player coming off lifts his arm to indicate he needs to come off and heads for the bench but what happens after that and why do the pens seem to have this need this yr. of putting to many on and not enough off. A little help here please. Thank you.

the coaches oversee every line change
there have been multiple time that we have had 7-8 players on the ice...
ur guy comes to the bench and u go over the boards- not that hard
this is something the coach is responsilble for

Yeah, but how do you know who's playing LW and how do you know what line you're one?

Wrong.
The problem is the players on the bench need to communicate better with the players they are replacing. What happened is say a LW comes off the bench, but the LW he's replacing suddenly veers away or something happens forcing one of them to touch the puck.
It's some players not moving fast enough and others not communicating.
Has nothing to do with the coaches. The coaches are concerned about how the people on the ice are playing and what is happening on the ice.
They can't be concerned with their players not talking and not executing basic hockey fundamentals.
Some of the bench minors were flukes too. The Rangers kept trapping the Pens during slow changes. Just means that the Pens need to hustle more on line changes.

It is not so much his job to get them on and off,
but the constant line mixing does not help when a player comes off and at the last second someone is held up or a different to be told go out.

That wasn't what happened on the penalty, and it wasn't lack of hustle. 6 guys were out there playing. 2 MORE were coming off the ice. They had 8 skaters on the ice with only 2 coming off. They don't know who they're playing with.
I don't know whose fault it is specifically in this case, but it's getting old.

If you want to criticize the lack of line consistency, that's fine by me, but the line changes ON ICE have little to do with the coaching staff and more to do with the players.

It shouldn't be that difficult to remember who you're playing with, though, even if you were just told during the game. I don't think Therrien or the players are blameless.

i just dont see any chemistry at all... with malkin scoring all these goals you would think there would be someone that fits very well with him

There is and he's sitting in the press box. There just isn't enough skill there.

but MT still wont keep them together all game. these 2 together will rip the league apart
im not saying that to start an argument but its obvious that together they will be more productive since we dont have "sniper" wingers

The reason people (and possibly MT) disagree with the dynamic duo on one line is so that there are two somewhat productive lines on the team instead of one productive line. This way, the other team has to match up defensively against the two different lines instead of sending the shut-down energy guys on Geno/Sid. With Malkin scoring like a maniac and Sid settin up Rex, I would somewhat agree.... although Sid/Geno would be sick and I think they'd out play the energy guys... therefore my stance is...

Having two scoring lines would be great. Problem is, Malkin and Sid centering for who? If you are going to have garbage playing with your top two centers, then you are getting garbage results. THey need to be together.
I would love to see a line of Sidney, Malkin, and EC.
Someone to tell Eric to be selfish on that line. That is all they need. Someone there to shoot more than not.

maybe they could communicate line changes better if the players knew what line they were on. with therrien changing things constantly, i cant blame them for not knowing who to replace.

It's the coaches fault. If he would quit throwing three different guys out on every shift, the team wouldn't be so confused. Bad communications.
