Clearly some people never get tired of it. (I am not in that category.)
The only way this trade would be viable is if we had wingers going the other way. They are stacked at center.

I'm sure Eklund has seen the buzz on this and is readying an exclusive for this evening:
Frolov, Brown, Johnson for Kunitz, Staal and Letang

I had Frolov and Johnson for Gonchar and Dupuis.

When you're pulling things out of your ***, the details become less and less important.

It is funny that 90% of this thread is not about Staal, at all, but the appologists are still out and hunting...

Out of curiosity: I've never gotten a solid impression of how you think the Pens should handle Staal.
Either in terms of moving him to wing or proposing a rational, fair trade that makes sense for both sides.
Just wondering....

I am of the mind that he is incapable of moving to wing. i am also of the mind that the $4M would be better served on a scoring winger. I try not to offer "serious" trades suggestions as then people just argue why x is better than y and so-n-so would never let y go, blah blah blah. However, in the Eklund rumor thread (because his trade rumors are not grounded in reality) I said Gonchar/Dupuis for Frolov/Johnson. That would solve the wing issue and keep Staal.

There is no way LA does that deal.

There is no way that LA does Brown/Johnson for Staal either, but that was Eklund's deal.

TheHammer24 wrote:I get all of the arugments about Staal being overpaid, being nothing more than a 3rd line winger, and frankly, I completely agree.
But for whatever reason, when he plays that position, this team is very good and he makes his two 3rd line wingers excellent, and the team wins.
So I'll take it.
You sir may be just what the hate Staal threads need. Logic amidst the hate.

Well people are always going to eat up what Ecklund has said and does say. Why not just make one thread and you put all of his garbage in there?

People wouldn't ever make it to the NHL. Post counts would stay low.

lol then we can't complain about Ecklund rumors then.
Side fact, today TIOPS posted on his twitter that Feds was being shopped.
Fed's agent promptly retweeted and called it rubbish.

I CAN believe that! His production is just ugh.... He's really not helping his cause either. Completely blind guess, but he's just not getting shots. He's not getting open like he used to either it seems. Someone needs to give him a kick in the gonads maybe to get him going a quarter of the way into the season...

That doesn't even make sense. Feds isn't coveted; his value to the Pens in terms of what he adds to Malkin's comfort level and his addition to the chemistry of that line far outstrips any meager return they'd get for him on the trade market.

Not to mention: If he's playing so terribly, why would anyone want to trade for him?

Which is why I laughed when the agent himself responded and basically called him a fool.

If we could just get Zubrus and Kovalev in the discussion, it would be the perfect storm of talked about forever and not gonna happen.

All Eklund trades should be placed in Not hockey related (NHR) section of this board. Maybe start a new catagory entitled Fantasyland.

I think getting a guy in the Shero mold as talented as Brown for as cheap as he's signed for is about the best that could ever be expected skill wise (under a Shero-created team).
Chris Bourque???

Just sayin
The guy was free for the taking and from a rival to boot. Why wouldn't he have taken him? Just sayin...
