[quote="NIN"] I'm confused
I just pray the team stays here and gets a new rink.[quote]
Me too. It takes a lot to get me out of "lurker" mode. It seems the roller coaster will continue.

Maybe it is as simple as this...
JB is just that spoiled kid who lost the game a now he is throwing a hissy fit and taking his ball and going home

I'd say there's more good news than bad news in this. It seems the NHL won't entertain the mere possibility of a move (at least right now). JB has always given me the creeps, anyway.

Well, we all want the team to stay. But I can't help but think that this will make Plan B more financially onerous than it otherwise would have been. I was enjoying the idea of a mega-billionaire owner with a great lease spending lots and lots of money on players.

Mark Cuban once again has a chance to be a hero in our eyes. He said he made a mistake not making an offer himself....So, here you go Mark.
1st Intermission there will be a Press Conference.

If IoC lost, he should still have been willing to at least listen to Plan B and see what it was all about, before then bailing. If Plan B really did suck, I cannot imagine the league would have made him stay.
Something is seriously confusing here, for him to bail at this time. It doesn't figure that he couldn't wait another week to see what happens.
I'm not so sure he could sell the team for a profit. A lot of people feel the Pens are not worth as much as he paid. Maybe he was willing to pay so much because he thought the team was portable. And when he discovered how difficult it would be to move the team, he realized he overpaid.
Now it would be REALLY interesting if he were to come back later, say, after the IoC gets the slots license, and offer to buy the team at a lower price.

Ken Sawyer will be addressing the media during the 1st intermission, not Mario.
If it were a straight-forward explanation, I think they'd send Mario. Sounds like this could be complicated, thus Ken - the more business minded part of the Pens - is going to be out there clearing the air. Hopefully.

So will it be "Saint Gary" to Pens fans from now on? I mean, he really seems to be serious about keeping the team in Pittsburgh. At least that is my impression.

JB has just convinced me he is a slimy ars and a total loser! Just for that, I will never buy a waste-of-money Blackberry EVER!
I got goose bumps too NIN after that prayer and news!
Simply a ridiculous roller-coaster of a ride and I'm not even on PA Soil anymore but my heart is in Pitt.

I am a huge Mark Cuban fan....I'd love it, if he steps up and takes control...but he's blown alot of smoke up people's asses lately.

On another note, ESPN national has yet to pick up the announcement.
I'm sure that will just fuel the fire for the anti-ESPN crowd on here.

Hmmm...
My guess-and it is only a guess-is that Balsillie was informed that the NHL BOG would not approve the sale b/c they didn't believe that he was committed to keeping the team in Pittsburgh (and didn't want him to later invalidate their territorial rights in court when they vetoed a relocation effort.) They then asked him to withdraw rather than be denied the team via a formal BOG vote.
So, I guess it is time for the big-mouth White Knight from Dallas to put his money where his mouth is...
Or not.

What makes me made is the LG pressed for JB to be the leader in the bidding knowing full well his intentions were not entirely in Pitt's favor. Look where it got them now? The NHL has overruled Mario and his group. I feel for Mario, really I do, because he deserves his money and freedom from all this by now. However, it sure looks like greed got the better of the LG this time and it backfired.

Seems like JB is po'ed they won't play the game with his rules, so he's taking his pucks and going home. Oh well. As long as the team is staying in Pittsburgh, I'm happy. We'll get a new arena one way or another, and Sid, Malkin, MAF, Staal, Whitney, and company will be holding a big party down at the Point sometime in the future....
Positive thinking!
