I never watched it before. If I started watching it would I be really behind?

No, you won't be behind. It's not the type of show that has a real plot.

Captain Phil and the Hillstrand brothers are my favorites.

Solidsnake - You won't know all the captains and crews, but it's worth the watch. What these guys go through to make a living in unbelievable.

Me too.

I love when the different crews pull pranks on one another's pots. I'd say that's the one thing I'd go back and watch on YouTube if you can find them. Some are too funny/crazy. :D

Sig is a heartless bastard and I love him for it. Every season there's a "230 miles Northeast of Dutch Harbor, Captain Sig Hansen and the crew of the Northwestern haven been pulling pots for 36 hours" episode.

Is this season last October's King or this January's Opilio?

Depending on which, Captain Phil might be in this one as he only recently passed.

I wouldn't. He works his crews ungodly hours and is clearly the most tyrannical of all the Captains.

He's in the promos, if that's any indication. I'm sure his death will be covered by the end of this season.

There are longer spots running with a voiceover from Captain Phil saying how blessed he is to be able to spend so much time with his kids at sea. It's sort of heartbreaking.

I, too, have been a huge fan of Captain Phil and the Cornelia Marie since season 1. The big question though... I wonder who is going to become captain of the Cornelia now that Phil is no longer with us? I'm calling the head engineer that took over when Phil had health complications in season 4, but I am not ruling out the oldest brother.
