I watched the youtube last night of Mario scoring the winner in game 1 of the '92 finals and I still get goosebumps. This game should've been on the first set but I'm glad to see that they are getting it right this time around.

Game #5 has a special place in my heart because I was there and the atmosphere was amazing. Obvious reasons for #3, #8, and #10 (I'd finally be able to erase it from my DVR. Not that I want to now, mind you, but it takes up about 10% of my space). And #11 because, well, it was the last (regular season) game at Mellon. I think I might switch out #11 and #9 every other day.
Also, I feel like I have the Winter Classic game on DVD from somewhere, but have no idea where it would be. Does anyone know? I feel like it was a bonus disc on something like Game 5 SCF was.
I think the Winter Classic is a bonus on the Sidney Crosby DVD or the Cup Champs DVD... it's on one of those two I'm pretty sure.
I think the extra on the Sid CD was game 5 of the Finals in '08 when Sykora scores in OT.

Correct. And skullman, I just read on TPB that the Winter Classic and the 3OT game are both on the Crosby DVD. So you are right.
So I preordered this a couple months ago and went to Amazon to check on the order (to see if the price went down, since if you preorder you get the lowest price). I see there seems to be a picture of the back cover which lists the games that will be on the discs.
In case you can't see the picture, the list is: 1 - 5/11/91 vs. Bruins (Pens clinch first trip to SCF) 2 - 5/26/92 vs. Blackhawks (SCF Game 1) 3 - 1/1/08 vs. Buffalo (Winter Classic) 4 - 4/25/09 vs. Philadelphia (Game 6) 5 - 6/12/09 vs. Detroit (Cup win) 6 - Bonus Game 4/8/10 vs. Islanders (last game at Mellon)
Kind of upset the WC is on there, but it's ok overall.

Good find, thanks for sharing, I am disappointed though that the 3OT game 5 isn't on there. I have the Crosby DVD, and it only has the Winter Classic in the special features, not game 5. I was really hoping to get that on DVD.

Game 5 was only a bonus disk if you bought the Crosby dvd at Dicks if I am not mistaken.

Game 4 against the Rangers from 92 should have been on there. However, I'm surprised the bandwagoners voted for Game 6 of the 91 Wales Conference Final.
If game 1 of the 92 finals was not chosen I would have definitly boycotted this. I'm glad they finally wised up this time. I have been looking for this game on DVD for years.
I needed a hockey fix during the offseason, so I finally picked up this set... and I'm sorry I did. The quality is horrible, and they didn't even use any Pittsburgh broadcasts. The first two games from the '91 playoffs are really lousy picture quality, which may be the best available due to their age, but they also chose to use the CBC broadcasts. Far worse are the more modern games, which use a widescreen format. They didn't even bother to make anamorphic dvds, so watching it on a widescreen television gives you letterboxing on all four sides. The picture quality here is passable, but not what it should be considering they should have had access to high definition masters.
All in all, this set looks like it was just slapped together with minimal effort, and no concern for quality. It probably doesn't matter at this point, but if anyone was still looking to get this set they really shouldn't bother.
Just off of memory, I have box set one, and the worst is the Philly game in the 1988 playffs when Lemieux just tore it up and we won 10-7.
EVery break away, with where the camera was, everyone would stand up and you couldn't see the ice anymore. It is amazing how different things were just 25 years ago.

wow~ there are some classics. game 4 against the nyr in 92; don't know how the hell they won that game. in 08, game five detroit... game six 09 detroit; part 1 of game 7! I would have loved 92, 4th game boston; mario destroying bouque and oates! Sweep the bruins.

That was the one where Francis just shot from outside of the blue line and scored a goal to tie it? Right?
That was just big time because that was after Graves slashed Lemieux. I remember thinking it was over, and I thougth we were going to go down 3-1 in the series.
Never lost a game for the rest of the playoffs that year.
With the exception of Mario's return in December of 2000, this franchise has entirely too many consequential playoff games since 1989 to permit regular season games onto either collection. It was an absolute joke that regular season games from the first half of the '06-'07 list were included as part of the first collection (even if I understand that it was designed to appeal to younger fans with disposable income), but both collections would appear to be missing out on quite a few entertaining and important games since the spring of 1989.
My favorite: Game 6 against the Crapitals in 1992.
