Sticktime in Pittsburgh

Postby saveourpens on Sun Mar 26, 2006 4:44 pm

Anyone know anywhere to do a little ice-hockey sticktime during the weekends? Airport ice arena has it on Saturdays and Sundays, but their ice sucks, the place is a dump, it costs 15$ , and I am a cheap college bastard. Seems like they raised the price because they know no one else has it. But, does anyone know of some place, reasonably close to Pittsburgh, that has stick time during the weekends?

Valley Sports Complex...20-25 mins outside of Pittsburgh in New Kensington. Tuesday and Thursday I believe 7 dollars. Plus they have two going on at the same time one for 12 and under and the other for 13 and older... so no little kids

What is the difference between Pick-up and "stick time"? Is there no actual game played in stick time?

Correct! Give that man a kewpie doll!

If enough people show up at stick game, games will break out on occaision though. For the most part, it just ends up being open ice. It' really sucks with no goalie around though.

Stick Time is not a term I'm familiar with here in Jersey. I guess that if there is ice here, we call it open hockey - no matter if a whole game breaks out or not.
