I'm not a huge fan of NHL fights... I know they're an important and neccessary part of the game, but the fights themselves I'm not a huge fan of.

But this was great. What the heck was Tucker thinking when he put himself in that position... that Kovy was going to avoid him?

Kovy, nice forearm shiv. Couldn't have given it to a better guy!

And Antropov..LMAO, he looked like he was directing traffic tryng to keep everyone away from those two... like the rest of the Habs were going to let Tucker take Kovy one on one...

Classic.. was a nice way to start my day!

Thanks for the llink!

Thanks for linking that! I saw that in the box score last night and was looking for video to see what happened, but no one puts stuff like that in their highlight packages.

Dale Hunter used to tdo the same puss thing that Tucker did. He got mad that someone actually hit him. How many times do you see Tucker blindside people or give "questionable" hits to people... but then HE plants to hit Kovalev, Kovalev actually wins the hit, and Tucker gets mad like the pud he is.

Had no idea that A Kovalev could have been suspended for yesterday's game...that would have made for an interesting point or 2 for the habs. That said, I would have paid to see Darcy take a tumble. :P

Kovy has a mean streak in him, he just doesn't let it out much. At camp one year, Jason MacDonald (hack that he is) was running around, getting the stick into a lot of guys. Kovalev game him a retaliatory whack and got called. He was so mad that not only did he line up for the penalty shot (penalties in camp games result in penalty shots with the offending player chasing after the fouled part - no power plays), he also left the ice, giving the glass a nice two-hander on his way off. The stick never had a chance. :)

That aside, if roles had been reversed and Tucker threw that elbow into Kovalev, I'll bet he gets a game or two off.

What the video doesn't show is what precipitated this. We were watching live, and what happened was, as Kovy came across the ice (just where the video picks up), Tucker basically punched him right in the face, with no call. At that point, Kovy took it into his own hands and took the puck and skated right toward Tucker. He was looking for him, and lugged the puck a long way to get to him. The rest, as they say, is history Image.

I read about that. Tucker had it coming and I cant' stand the guy, but that was a pretty flagrant elbow and he should have gotten a suspension for it.

Maybe he picked that up from Messier in NYC. He was always good with the elbows...

Given the Video, I totally believe that, I couldn't understand why Kovy hadn't dished it off and couldn't figure out where he was going.

That's awesome... Tucker is probably one of my five least favorite players.

That goes to strengthen my point earlier. He punches the guy and then get upset a minute later when the guy runs him over... double standard puss.

I keep replaying that clip, over and over. Kovy knew exactly where Tucker was going to be on the ice. He knew exactly how to get Tucker to look down and try and find the puck. Then while Darcy has his head down, Kovy levels him.

Normally I'd say the move was low-class, but against Tucker I can't help but feel he got exactly what he deserved. This clip goes into my database!
