If your sending text's between iPhones with ios5 does it just default to imessage? Seems to be the case but wasn't totally sure.

pretty sure thats what happens. i had a strange glitch last night where the person i was messaging wasnt listed by their name as per usual but by just their phone number, even though they are listed in my contacts. pretty annoying.

Yeah. It switches even before you send a message. Just look in the text box to see if it says Text or iMessage.

And green means text while blue is iMessage.

Yeah, I noticed the differences (color and in the text box) between the two just wasn't sure if there was a way that you were able to specify which you wanted to send or it just kind of figured it out on it's own. Seems like it recognizes it before you send a message and then just defaults to imessage for that phone from then on, as soon as my fiance's phone was done upgrading to ios5 it went to imessage instead of a regular text, I thought that was pretty cool that it takes care of it for you. I guess I was just expecting that you would've needed to tell it to go that route instead of it doing it automatically.

If both devices are iOS 5, it defaults to iMessage (counts as data instead of a text). Otherwise, it sends a text. Additionally, if the iMessage fails, it will then re-send as a text.
Another feature I like is the Read Receipt in iMessage but the other person has to turn on that option.
You can also see when the other person is typing you a message. A bubble appears with three dots.

Has anybody set custom text tones? I'm trying to think of something short that would be fun. My current ringtone is the boss theme from Sonic the Hedgehog, so I was trying to think of something that would go along with that. My first thought was something from Mario Brothers (like the 1-up or pipe sounds) but that's a little obvious.

LockInfo, SBSettings, and BiteSMS have all been updated for iOS 5 if you jailbreak. They work great.
No Winterboard for themes yet.

I can't wait to get the new iPhone, mainly because I'm using a 2.5 year old 3GS.
