1/31/12 Leafs v. Penguins- Official Game Thread

Preamble

Evening everybody. Things are looking a little brighter now than they were a month ago. In a related story, the sun is shining a little brighter, and the whiny posts calling for Bylsma to be fired have gone. Thankfully the Pens medical staff continues to give fans a reason to be upset. They're good people like that.

Of course, it's never as bad as it appears when things are bad, and it's never as good as it appears when things are going well. The Pens have had their share of good fortune and close calls during this stretch, and they still seem to lack the killer instinct they've been missing since...um...2009. But 7 in a row is 7 in a row, so that's not to be dismissed just for lack of style points. This stretch has also seen the welcome return of Evgeni Malkin: Unstoppable Force. We've missed him since...um...2009 as well.

Standings. http://espn.go.com/nhl/standings/_/group/2 Still not a huge gap between 5th and 9th even with 7 wins in a row, and these next two games could go a long way towards keeping Toronto from lifting the Cup for the first time since 1967. I wasn't even close to being born then, and I'm old so that should say something. (As an aside, Boston's goal differential is disgustingly good.)

Anyway, as always I welcome any and all posts, even if they are less than 100% positive and may make sensitive souls cry and gnash their teeth and bang their rattles loudly. It's okay to be angry and be a fan. Hopefully the Pens will lay the lumber and there will be nothing to complain about.

Normally I don't drink during the week for games, but its been a hell of a day, the weather today strikes, so I just came straight home picked up a case of Yeungling and cookin out on the deck before the game. No gym, no house cleaning tonight. I'm ready for this.

The Leafs asked if they could wear blue, and the Pens said yes. So in turn the Pens wear white.

I like it this way. I wish it was always White at home.
