not at all. it was a head on hit, so the new rules don't apply. letang dipped his head going into the play. there is no way for the dallas player to make a safe hit on the play, and since it's head on, he is not responsible for the safety of the puck carrier

that rule doesn't apply when you are facing the man. letang wasn't hit from behind, so toss that out the window
