You were somewhere in SE?

Nope...Montgomery County (Montgomery Village, to be specific). Are you kidding? You wouldn't catch me anywhere near SE

So you didn't live in DC

lol, I don't think you have to live in the city proper to understand the dynamic of the city. In my job/personal capacity, I pretty much visited and hung out in every corner of DC. There were parts I enjoyed (Bethesda and Dupont comes to mind), but it's more just the general feel as a whole.

Yeah, Bethesda isn't DC but it's a nice area. I live in Friendship Heights now, which I love, but I am originally from Montgomery County.

I like Bethesda, but the rest of MD sucks. You're not cool unless you live inside the beltway (or pee your pants).

I should admit, that as a VA resident, I'm pretty sure I'm legally required to hate Maryland.

I actually figured I was going to catch flak for the Dupont reference. And I'm an idiot...I was thinking of Adams Morgan, not Dupont.

There are a few pretty cool places in Dupont, but I avoid it for the most part because its so spread out. Adams Morgan is a good time, but Bethesda is where i'd rather hang out. Even though its not really DC, i consider it to be. If i'm "going to DC", odds are that i'm going to Bethesda.

When I worked in Rockville, my office was literally across the street from the Twinbrook metro stop in the Red Line. It was perfect...we would just hop on the red line and go into Bethesda for happy hours or nights out.

For me, I'd say 60% of the time I either end up in Chinatown or Adams Morgan. I live across from an outdoor shopping center and the 2nd largest mall in the DMV so I dont head into DC that much.

Nice, I'm from Rockville, that's 3 minutes from my house.

I understand Dupont is known as being a gay area, but if you just go out to the bars there on the weekends you wouldn't know. Also, jumbo slice after the Adams Morgan bars is the best thing ever.

Yeah, we were a couple minutes from the Shady Grove Metro until the middle of Summer. I usually did happy hours at Rio. When happy hours ended up in Bethesda, we usually ended up in a hotel or all crowded on someone's couch. Work was good the next day.

Obviously my joke was about the gayness, but I don't care about that. I just hate that area because you can't really bar hop. Bars are blocks and blocks away from eachother.

Yeah, there's not a ton of bars in the area. But you do have Public, Lucky Bar, Mad Hatter, Buffalo Billiards, Front Page, the Big Hunt, and a couple others I can't think of all with 1-2 blocks of eachother.

Tastee Diner was where I went to get my drunk munchies after the pens won the cup. Went strolling in there at about 3am on a Saturday morning with my pens jersey on. Got a fair amount of boos and cheers.

Yeah, Mighty Pint is super awesome for Steeler games. I've never been for Pens games. Have you been to the Pour house? I've never been but I know it's a Pittsburgh bar too.

No I haven't. I have been there for a few Pens games, its pretty cool. When the Pens are on the west coast on a Saturday night, I like to go down to China Town to Rocket bar for a caps game then cab to dupont for a pens game there.
