Just to clarify some conflicting answers here... Yes, the Buffalo Sabres have always played both the US and Canadian national anthems before EVERY game (not just when the opposing team is based in a Canadian city). This highly civilized and deeply respectful policy was instituted from the very beginning of the franchise in 1970 by Chairman of the Board Seymour H. Knox III. It was intended as a tribute to both the players and fans from that wonderful country to our north who gave us the glorious game of hockey. Also, in actual fact, "O Canada" is always performed first, followed by "The Star-Spangled Banner."
