The d needs to play the body in front of the net. The d needs to play the body in the zone. Pens get back to fundamentals and still win in 6

I feel like the entire season has just been ended by one game... that Canucks game seems so long ago... sigh

The reason this game is difficult to let go is that they literally had the game won and let it slip away due to not only the Flyers playing better but the Penguins' own mistakes. A missed offsides, a ring off the pipe from Jordan, a deflection, it doesn't matter. Take a deep breath, put it in the back of your mind, and on to Friday. That's the best way of looking at it for us.

Pens powerplay has scored 1 goal in their last 44 playoff PP opportunities.

This was an unforgivable loss. I really thought the playoffs would be different, but this is SSDD when it comes to Pens-Flyers. I am 100 percent

tough loss, hated opponent, Sid took about 5 hits to the head and face via gloves and sticks, Letang and Martin were awful and the energy just went from 80 to zero after we went up 3-0.
The Pens are professionals. they will respond Friday and hopefully get us to philly tied 1-1.
LETS GO PENS

i have the broadcast on dvr. feel free to come over and ill have a 12 pack waiting for you and ill play the part where pierre is saying bylsma is holding the horses back when it was 3-1. he was fully prepared to attempt to sit on that lead and not even attempt to score anymore. that is atrocious coaching and it led to this loss.

Friday is going to be tough. I'm sure the Pens will come with a better 60 minute effort, but so will Philly. They know they can't keep getting down early and coming back dramatically like this. That's going to bite them eventually. That's another reason why tonight hurts. Such a huge blown opportunity and it's only going to get harder now. Philly wasn't ready for the start and the Pens had a chance to really take advantage of that. I doubt you're going to see the Flyers start a game like that again in this series.

We better win the next game. If we go down 0-2... not good.

The Flyers have been getting behind early all season long. Don't be surprised if that continues through the rest of the series.

I liked fartsmell's shot-pass to Schenn's stick on the PP. would like to see Neal do some of that for Crosby or Kunitz's stick while on the PP.

I agree that the Pens let this slip away but the first Briere goal was so clearly offside it was obvious in the upper level. It is a whole different thing going into the 3rd up 3-0 instead of 3-1.
That said Geno wasn't good and Neal looked slow tonight. We need the top line going.
Michalek played like the puck was a grenade.

We will see if Bylsma earns his keep. Adjustments have to be made against Philly. The Flyers completely took away the wall in the Pens defensive zone and the Pens continued all game to try to use the wall to break out. Same thing will happen if the Pens don't adjust.
The Pens can dominate the Flyers. When they are all skating hard and playing their game Philly can't win. Pens gave up after the first. Plain and simple. They either learn from this and never let it happen again, or they don't and they lose this series.
I think they will be okay because this group normally responds to adversity very well. I will say this though, if the Pens lose, Bylsma has to be fired.
QFT
Failure to get past the 1st round with this much talent = fired. Bylsma got a long leash by winning the Cup his first (less than full) season. He's reached the end of it, IMO.

Yes, please fire an extremely young inexperienced coach who has won the Stanley Cup and Jack Adams in the last 3 years. Some of you are downright moronic sometimes. Be careful what you wish for.

DB is getting alot of blame around here tonight and its justified but what about Shero? This D is a joke and this D is his- Shero had 2 years to evaluate this D and its clear to most here on the board that its not going to cut it

this team would have been better without a coach tonight. then they can just play balls out instead of having some scared old man behind them neutering their strategy and thus their chances of winning.

That was a beautiful goal. They have those forwards that if you let them into your zone, they will eventually score. Well, they can't score on the Rangers, but they can on us. Something to consider when evaluating things.

First off, I think we will be okay and win this series. But what are your expectations? Just getting to the playoffs? With this lineup? Pens haven't done anything in the playoffs since they won the Cup. And yes, no Sid or Geno last year but they still were up 3-1 in that series and had two home games to finish Tampa off and didn't. With this team healthy and the incredible talent it has, losing in the first round is completely unacceptable. You only have so many chances and teams that are capable of winning the Cup.
Yes, Bylsma has a lot of good qualities and has had great regular season success. But he hasn't gotten it done in the postseason lately and that is all that matters. If he can't get this team past the first round this yea that would be 3 disappointing postseason losses in a row and he shouldn't be the guy going forward.
