DB is getting alot of blame around here tonight and its justified but what about Shero? This D is a joke and this D is his- Shero had 2 years to evaluate this D and its clear to most here on the board that its not going to cut it

the d was strapped down to a train track and put behind the 8 ball when bylsma had the brilliant idea for everyone to stop playing aggressively. yes the d is a weakness my issue is it became more glaring than it should been because of poor coaching.

he outsmarted himself and overcoached by playing it safe instead of keeping the original gameplan

DB definitely hates calling timeouts early or mid game. He didn't use his again tonight and Lav did. Which way is better?

definitely would have been an upgrade tonight. i guarantee you if the players were in control of the strategies employed when it was 3-0 and 3-1 the pens would have won the game. instead the game was put in the hands of a scared business man and he chose to use the absolute worst strategy possible which put our weaknesses in defense and goaltending on blast

I think it would be something for them to consider. There really are no excuses this year. Yes, Philly is a tough first round match-up but the Pens should be the better team. The Pens have been spending to the cap and I'm guessing they budget expecting to have some long playoff runs to bring in that playoff revenue. Losing in the first round can't be accepted. I don't know if they actually fire him but I will say that this is the last free pass he'd get for a quick playoff exit. I have faith that they're going to keep most, if not all, of the core together but just saying, Sid's currently scheduled to be a UFA after next season. Who knows how much longer they're going to enjoy these great rosters. Which makes it all the more frustrating when they underachieve.

Please Please PLEASE take Sid and Malkin off the same PP.
Make TWO power play units.

The PP sucked the life from this team tonight. They had no confidence that they would score out there.

And toward the end of each power play Letang, Malkin, and Sid all looked drained. A 1:30-2:00 minute shift is too much.



Flyers adjusted and the Pens didn't change anything. Blah.
Geno looked ok to me, but they were really playing him close. After the first they didn't let him generate any speed through the neutral zone. Still he needs to come up big here.

This is why these early exits can't be accepted. We have no idea if we will ever have as talented as a team again in the future or that we can be so heathly. And Sid, Geno, and Staal are all getting older. Will we have more chances in the future? Most likely, but you can't count on it. And honestly Therrien had just as much to do with the Pens winning the Cup as Bylsma. There are zero excues for another early playoff exit. If he can't get it done with this group he shouldn't be the guy next year.
