Who gives a rip about goaltending depth?
All that matters is that your number 1 is really good.
Unless the guy gets hurt a lot; goaltending depth doesn't mean squat.
Let's be honest: nearly every single team in the playoffs is entirely dependent upon their starter. While a few teams are lucky enough to have a good player tied up behind their starter- that has happened more by luck than by any plan. Some jobber signed as a cheap backup gets a chance to start, and goes nuts (cough*Lalime*cough) and then everybody and their brother pretends "OH yeah1! WE KNOWED THAT WAS THE DEAL! OH WE SO SMRT!
If you starter goes down in the playoffs, you are cooked.
The Caps, much as I'd like em to, aren't going to beat the Bruins with their callup goalie.
Here's hoping I have to eat crow. But I'm not going to change my dinner plans around it.
