Honestly, it kind of feels like yesterday. I remember my parents were getting a new couch and the old one was already taken to the dump. We were all sitting on the floor watching the game. When we won, I just remember running outside into the streets cheering. I was 13.

I still have that game on VHS tape.

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was the first NHL game ever played in the month of June.

I went to the three rivers celebration. Even ran out and slid on the tarp at the end when everyone went running out on to the field.

Harumph. I had a job interview the next day, so it was a low-key evening. When Mario had a breakaway against Hasek, I jumped off the couch ... and the TV went blank. I just couldn't believe the cable went out at that very moment, but then I realized I'd accidentally hit the remote and turned off the TV.

Those games were so close, I just remember desperately wanting the Pens to close it out in four, because if Chicago had gotten any momentum, who knows.

Along those same lines, when the Hawks were making that last desperate scramble to tie it up in the final seconds, I sat on the remote and changed the channel just before the horn sounded. So I denied everyone the cheer eruption at the end of the game. FAIL

On of my HS teachers that year gave us a final on the day of the 3 rivers celebration so I could not go. Glad she proved her point...lame. She also didn't think St Patrick's Day should be a holiday so she and I had our differences anyway, this just added to the list.

Went to the Point celebration the year before but missed the repeat.

That 4th game was wild; especially after barrasso and pens shut out the hawks 1 zip in game 3!
My God, that team could score goals. They gave up plenty too !
I remember, always, D Hasek(a rookie) putting his head down on the net after Francis 3rd period goal. Felt bad for him, but he overcame that moment. I remember Mario and Jagr dancing with the puck , late in the 3rd, just because they could.

I found the celebration on youtube~ bless you. Trip back to the early 90's. I took 2 nephews to 3 Rivers.
