Good solid move
Maf was playing too many games because of backup issues

Very good trade for a player many considered a quality candidate to not only back up Fleury, but to push him for starts. Clearly Shero and company are well-aware of this team's problems and are in the process of addressing them aggressively. He made $1.5 million with the Capitals in 2011-12 and should be in line to make less due to his average season. $1 - $1.25 million would be great for a goalie who had 25 wins this season.

A lefty in practice certainly won't hurt for shootouts.

Vokoun had a very solid season in Washington. Just look at how their other goalies did that season. They don't make the playoffs without him last season.

Vokoun had to waive a no-movement clause to come here. So that would indicate there's some interest. Sounds promising.

I'm really happy about this. Vokoun is solid and has the ability to eat a ton of shots. If/when he signs here, this is going to get MAF under 65 starts hopefully.

He earned $1,500,000 last season, correct?...and then fired his agent after learning how much it was for. What does he make this year?

Why can he not find a starting job somewhere?

I know, I guess I'm just puzzling over how the Pens can sign him for the $1-$1.5M being discussed. I mean, at that price tag, great. I'm just not sure I can see that happening. For a 7th, why not kick the tires, though, I guess.

PIT acquires right to Tomas Vokoun from WSH for 7th rd pick. Which suggests Vokoun's new contract in PIT is likely done or will be shortly.

Well, I don't think that's exactly how it went down. But he did make $1.5 million last year. I'm not sure what he'll make this year but Fleury and he share the same agent (Allan Walsh).

Rumors had him courted by Locomotiv for the KHL, but he's stated a desire to remain in the NHL.

I doubt he would waive his NTC, if he were dead set on a starting role.

Per a Mirtle tweet - Although he has a year remaining on his contract, Caps let Vokoun explore other NHL teams. Several (I'm guessing one being the Pens) expressed a desire to sign him to a multi-year deal.
EDIT - And the Pens just tweeted he's signed for 2 years.
