Article on TSN today about the Preds possibly trading Alex Radulov - "I have reached out to a few teams in the NHL to see whether there is any interest," Poile told the newspaper. "If there is, there's the possibility we could trade his rights."
So I am thinking one of those few teams he mentioned are probably the Penguins. And I am thinking the Penguins would be a team that Radulov would play for, since he says that he and Malkin are friends -"He’s a good friend of mine because we are the same age and we were playing against each other as kids, Radulov said of Malkin. So I’ve known him a long long time. We’ve got a good relationship. While he was playing here and I was playing there we just call each other sometimes. In the summer I saw him a lot."
Radulov has got some skills and it would be nice to have another scoring winger, but I don't think Shero goes for it, even if he came cheap. He lead the preds in scoring during the playoffs but apparently his play was really sloppy. If we could get him, do you go for it?

I'll pass, thank you.
Other question: What kind of salary will Radulov command?

Talented yes, team player no.

Someone like the Rangers would be willing to give him a pricy, multi-year deal. Pens won't.

If he wasn't such a complete waste of talent, Nashville would re-sign him. No thanks.

He stated after the season he wanted to come back to Nashville, but Poile obviously wants nothing to do with him right now. His suspension for being way late on curfew and drop-off in his play vs. PHX to go along with his erratic nature and KHL possibilities at any time scream high risk. Too much of a headcase and he can play pretty uninspired at times. Probably can hurt a team as much as help it so I don't think that signing him at even 600K would be wise.

Just playing Devils advocate, but any move that pushes Dupuis to the bottom six is welcome. Not that Dupuis is a bad player, I think he has high value on this team, but when you can have a guy like him and Cooke on your third line, that speaks volumes about your team make-up. Crosby-Radulov-Kunitz-Staal-Malkin-Neal would easily be the most talented top six in the league, no? Looks like an All-Star line up.

Talented? Perhaps. Hardworking. No...and pretty much all because of Radulov. Put it this way...Malkin's no gem in the defensive zone, but Radulov makes him look like a Selke canidate.

Good lord, seriously? This EXACT same thread was posted like three weeks ago, and the reaction was the same.
Edit: This idea was put forth in the Staal thread. But still...

Keep this dude as far away from the Pens as possible. We're already complacent enough.

I'm not on the 'fire Bylsma' bandwagon, but one thing that is clear with him...you don't necessarily have to earn ice time. Radulov needs to be on a team like the rangers, etc...where he only plays if he earns it. Come to think of it...that's how it should be here too!!!

Pass on ARad to the Burg ... lazy, bad attitude and can bolt back to the KHL if he doesn't get what he wants at any moment. First, you would have to give up a decent asset to get his rights, since he is an RFA instead of a UFA (more pricey) and then you will have to pay him 4-5 million per year on top of that. We have more pressing needs than acquiring that headache.

I doubt it would cost much to acquire him considering he's halfway back to Russia already and Nashville stated publicly they don't want him - that's a good way to drain value. And $5 million per year, I should hope not. Either way, I don't want him on the Pens...but let's not get crazy with what it would take to get him. You have to give him "stay in the NHL" money (ala Zherdev) but $5 million per year is excessive.

We've already given up our 7th. A 6th round pick is too much.

I will tell you what ... agents right now are looking at that deal Edmonton gave Ales Hemsky and will use that. Hemsky, a fragile, soft Euro, that doesn't score goals anymore and puts up fewer points than Dups or Sulli, got a 10 million deal over two years. You figure it out. Don't kid yourself if that won't be mentioned in negotiations.
