Didn't want to see him go, but it is what he wanted and it helps free up some money for other players. He will be a good player for a long time. Hope to see him develop into a more offensive player.

I was hoping for Trouba, big guy like a Ulf or Adam Foote type.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Pens and Canes didn't start talking about the deal until 430 pm. Rutherford met with Shero in his office here. Deal was done around 645 pm.
Damien Cox @DamoSpin
Ray Shero just schooled the rest of the NHL on how to make a splash when draft's in your town.

I guess they want the guns on the top two lines... Parise and Sid together would be the only pair better than Geno and Neal.

On Twitter, it seems like 80% of the people upset about Staal being traded are female.

Looking at the Canes site, seems more people upset that Canes traded Sutter than more people happy they got Jordan Staal.

Staal will re-sign and he will certainly not be traded. Staal is a Peng for the next 4-5 years. Take it to the bank

He made up his mind after we lost to the Flyers. Remember he was sitting there in the lockerroom alone, deep in his thoughts. He knew back then.

I don't know if Staal is capable of thoughts deeper than which bar he'll be at that evening.

I don't know if you're being serious, but I had that feeling at that time. It reminded me of Ryan Malone sitting in the locker room after his last game as a Pen.

I thought we would get much for Staal, but Carolina couldn't wait and SHero got a good retrun, not great, maybe in a few years we see the 8th overall guy play.,
