Would Suter be jealous playing on a team with a guy who had an extra "t" in his name?

Shero could trade a defenseman to get the extra "t."

If that $14 mil in cap room is accurate they can sign Parise and pretty much cover the slight increases in Sid and Malkin's next contract.
Now if Shero can get someone to take Martin? He has pictures of NHL GMs and sheep.

Pee-air also said Crosby and ZP where tight. Close friends. Not sure how true but he did say it.
Hope this works out for the pens, its scary going into free agency when you are not sure how this can all play out.
A team would be easily swayed to try and sign either Sutter or ZP for close to 8. If Staal is 6 million i got to think ZP can command 8.
If Martin is 5 million, Sutter is 100 billion dollars.

I'd rather go after Weber than Suter to be honest.

Surely Weber is Nashville's highest priority? Does he want out?

That is a damn solid top 4, and the bottom 3 is not horrible.
Having niskanen in the projected top 4 and calling them solid is pretty ridiculous. that looks like a team with a solid top pair (tang-suter) and nothing behind them.

Weber is an RFA...not going anywhere.

I think that is low.
Praise could be 9 million a year.
Suter could be 8 million a year.

I think Shero holds onto Martin to see what happens July 2nd. If he gets what he wants and needs to clear space, he can dump Martin. If he doesn't, he can package Martin with a prospect and Kennedy and shore up the Defense.

Wanted to log in just to say that 9 and 8? There isn't enough LSD to think a GM would ever pay close to that.

Karlsson got 6.5. Suter gets less than that.

I think Parise could easily get $18-25 million per year, and Suter, probably not that much, maybe $14 million per.

I will keep singing my wish.....trade Paul Martin to Nashville for the negotiating rights to Suter. If Suter is demanding to test the market (ie, not going to resign with Nashville before July 1st), give them Martin as compensation and hope Suter sees how awesome the Pens are and will sign here. It's not like Martin is a scrub. It's not like we'd be offering Ben Lovejoy here. Martin is a decent defenseman who had a bad year, and is a bit overpaid. Better to get some asset for Suter than lose him outright. Nashville has tons of cap space to do it. Hell, if I knew for certain that Suter would definitely sign, I'd throw in a 3rd or 4th round pick if needed to complete the trade.

Seems very doubtful that on the open market Suter somehow does not get offers at or above $6.5 per. Karlsson was an RFA, so there is a difference there. But even that aside, Suter @ $5M will never happen as some seem to be thinking. He was reported as wanting $7 per during this past season. Wanting and getting are two different things, but, I think I'd prefer Suter to Weber and he got $7+ from the arbitrator.

Might be right. It just seems like the rangers or flyers always end up making a crazy offer.

Martin for Suter's rights without having a deal in place is incredibly stupid.

If you're going to do a salary dump then atleast get something good in return. Heck, I'd take a 2nd round pick pick straight up for Z over this deal.
