Nash, Parise, Suter, or Weber

I would give away any prospect, Kennedy, and try to throw in Martin for Shea Weber.

Do not touch Nash with 10' pole. Not interested.

Nashville isn't going to get rid of Suter and Weber. Suter is most likely gone and then they will sign Weber.

I've seen in a couple of different threads that people offer up Kennedy in a trade. What makes people think that anyone would want TK? He would be a deal breaker in any trade of significance.

Make that pole we're not touching Nash with 300', please.

I also do not want Weber. Overrated, in my opinion. Now, Suter and Parise? Yes, please.

There will be teams that will take players for the purpose of getting to the cap floor.

Exactly. I think they've targeted Weber as the keeper.

Why are people so anti-Nash? He's a winger with elite talent. His production in C-Bus isn't amazing, but he's been on a bad team with little help. Yet he's been durable and a consistent 30+30 guy. Coming here and playing with Sid, he could easily step up into another stratosphere. Then that 7.8 cap number wouldn't look so bad (which by the way, is about what Parise will probably cost.)

If it wasn't for the fact that Nash will cost assets in a trade, he'd be my choice here.

$14.6M (est.) to sign 5 guys here, those thinking about ZP AND Suter.... That can't and won't happen without more salary dump. I keep hearing "No one will beat the Wild's offer to Parise" but, honestly, would you play with the 2 best players on the planet for $7M, or no one for $9M? I don't know Parise, but I can't imagine having that guy with this team... Wouldn't be fair.

We have a mostly full roster.

Neal - Malkin - Kunitz
XXX - Crosby - Dupuis
TK - Sutter - Cooke (Tangradi possibly in here)
Adams - Vitale - XXX (or ET)

For forwards, we only need a 4th liner/extra forward depending on where ET plugs in. Jeffrey is also here.

Orpik - Letang
Martin - Depsres (may not be actual pairing, just for show)
Engelland - XXX (likely re-sign Niskanen)
Lovejoy

Plus we have Strait and Bortuzzo.

So with the 14M, all we need to sign is 1 4th liner and Niskanen other than the top 6 guy. You have to figure he will have at least 10m to play with. Probably more.

Are the Pens legally free to talk in general terms to Suter and/or his agent before acquiring his rights, just to gauge interest? If so, and if there is some interest on their side, I'd gladly trade Martin for his rights.

If Nashville gives them permission, they can talk numbers and gauge interest with his agent before making a trade.

I don't think Weber is going to become available. Suter I want. The Pens desperately need size and shutdown capability (preferably in the same person) on the blue line.

Parise is a terrific competitor and I would love to see him in a Pens sweater.

Nash is a great individual talent, but I have some reservations about how he would fit in as 4th or 5th wheel here vs #1 in Columbus. Hard to predict.

After all the dust settles, I really want to see HCDB adjust his system to take advantage of all the strengths that are now in the line-up. I'm not interested in up-tempo play for its own sake, or the President's junk, or individual records. I want the Cup and lots of them in the next 4 years.

No... Vokoun threatened to make 45 saves a game for the next 4 years against the Pens if they didn't trade for and sign him. There was absolutely no discussion. Only threats of the Pens continuing to have a .0004% shooting percentage against him.
